Maybe not, but one of the best I have owned in my 52 years. I could bitch about some things, but that goes for every vehicle that I have owned.

Secondary air filter removal, K&N drop in, Removed front mud flaps, Toyota all weather matts, skid plate, bug guard. Bilstein 5100's all around fronts set at 2.5", OME add a leaf, Goodyear Wrangler Authority 265/70/17, stubby 6.5" antenna, smoked tail lights, blacked out badges.
Best in it's class would be a better description. The competition isn't that stiff though. That won't be for long. Toyota needs to surf this site a little in order to see what the real owner experience is for these trucks. There are many little problems that could be remedied that Toyota doesn't even acknowledge. Oh, and I may as well say before anybody else does, better gas mileage and more horsepower would be nice. All of that aside, I do love my 2nd gen Tacoma. I loved the one before that, and I loved my 93 Toyota 4X4 pickup before that. Perfect no, but a very capable all around good medium sized truck absolutely.

My old 2002 Tacoma was a good truck, but it was also far from perfect. My 2010 4Runner was a good vehicle, but it did not have a bed.
