I say this is a dumb question because i may be the only person who cares about this.

Do 2nd gen Tacomas have an audible seat belt alert?? By which i mean, your truck is in drive, your seat belt is off, and you have an annoying dinging or beeping reminding you to put your seat belt on.
    That shit drives me BANANAS!!
If so, is there a way to disable it? I know that's illegal, but its "my truck" and i could give a damn.
My 02' only has a seatbelt light and no sound.
I routinely drive down long country roads or across open fields without a seat belt and dont want to hear that noise.

Come to think of it, most trail runners would probably agree so maybe its not so bumb afterall.

Yes, second gen Tacomas do and it can be disabled. 2005-2011 it can be done at home. 2012-2015 has to be disabled by the dealer.

Yes it only lasts for about a minute. It will come back on if you slow down below 15 I think. Mine does sometimes if I don't have it on. It can be disabled at the dealer.

Yes they do have an audible alert.

However, the nice thing is that it will shut off after a couple minutes unlike other vehicles that will keep making noise until the belt is fastened. At least this is how it works on my 14'

I wasn't on the road when I didn't have mine on and would be getting out of the truck frequently. In 21 years in EMS I've never seen someone ejected at 15-20 mph.

You disable it by wearing your seatbelt.

I tried to disable it in my 05 using the method commonly mentioned on this site. Didn't work for me. Wanted it disabled because at the time I lived in the back of a large apartment complex and didn't care to use the seatbelt between the mailbox and my apartment.

Not everyone has techstream or a computer that still runs XP.

I have heard that the problem with the computer disabling is that it will come back if you disconnect your battery or it dies. The simplest thing to do is to go get a seat belt extender from the dealer (they are free) and cut the strap off of it. Throw it in the glove box for when you are crawling around the farm/woods.

Nope, have disconnected battery many times - stays off. This a user (owner) customizable parameter on the truck and is not against the law.

It will run in Windows 7/8/10. Techstream is available as a free download.

Wrong. That setting gets stored in non-volatile memory.

Learn something new every day. Where can you buy it? I don't need it but would like the knowledge as a reference.

Ah that is good to know, thank you! My local dealer refused to turn mine off, but maybe when I travel I'll try a few others. I am a believer in seat belts but when you are putting around on a forest service road or whatever that dinger can really get annoying.

The easiest way. 100% reversable too. Google "Tacoma seat belt extender" , mine came from Amazon.

Covered in stickers and chrome stick-ons for extra horse torques and foot powers. Icon sticker gets me tons of travel, dozens of milimeters.
I'm just curious if your experience alone accounts for the millions of vehicle accidents and fatalities that have occurred in 21 years.

Additionally: you can only be so worried about yourself at 15-20mph, defensive driving is often for the idiotic behavior of OTHER drivers.
