I back my truck into my garage when I park it and have experienced that when I first start it in the morning that it idles just fine until I touch the steering wheel to pull out. It appears that the slightest, and I mean SLIGHTEST, pressure that I apply to the steering wheel will bump the RPM up 300-400 RPM. I took it to my dealer and this is the second problem that seems to be built into the vehicle without being able to be fixed. Apparently the system is designed to raise the RPM to supply the power steering pump with a little boost when the steering wheel is moved. Dealer admits that it is way too sensitive and is contacting Toyota to see if there's a fix in the works?... In the meantime it remains a potential safety issue...

Has anyone else had any experience with this issue?...

Normal to raise RPMs when you engage power steering. How much is the question and is yours outside of reasonable/design tolerance? perhaps!

ps: If you can convince them it is in fact a safety issue, and they cannot resolve within the 30 or 31 day timeline -- may have good case for Lemon Law!
