I tell my parents that unless I am coming down on a weekday, I won't visit in the summer. Hated the summer when I lived there, hate the summer when I need to work down there.

I'd agree with the older version of the Mustang; we rented one in Seattle and drove it over the Cascades, and after a few hundred miles the ergonomics sucked. but the 2016 has some interior tweaks that make it a lot more comfortable for long hauls. We rented one for her to take to NY back in May and she said that it was super comfortable for the entire drive down, only needed to make one pit stop to stretch her legs. So for the 45 minute shot to Portland every morning I don't think it'd be a problem.

The AWD of the WRX would be nice, but they're only rated for 27 on the highway, and her requirement is at least 30

this sounds like a tall order. my mom wanted something with heated seats, nav, under $30k, brand new, good in the snow, cute, and good on gas. ended up spending a bit more and getting a rwd 1 series hahaha. gotta make compromises

Her demands are that it get 30+ on the highway, have enough balls to cruise comfortably at 80 and still pass, be fun to drive and look sporty. She wants adaptive cruise control but it's not a requirement, but I think it's an option on the 2017's now. So far I've been dragged along for multiple test drives on a Mazda CX3, Subaru Legacy, Outback, Impreza, & Crosstrek, Mercedes GLA, BMW 1 and 3 series, and the Mustangs. After yesterday I told her I'm done test-ride-alonging and that she's on her own, lol. I'm sick of wasting my Saturdays sitting in car dealerships while she crunches numbers on cars she's not going to buy.

Yea F that. I went to the dump on MacArthur Blvd (rt28) today. Because of apps like Waze people have been using the back roads more! I had to cut through a golf course, and a housing development to skip all the traffic.

Now everyone seems to know about the Service Road thanks to the traffic apps.

Did you see that people (locals) are reporting fake accidents/traffic to stop people from cutting through their side streets...

It's something I've wanted to do for a while. Last time I really looked into it, the 6x9 adapters were more expensive than the speakers.

That doesn't surprise me. I know I wouldn't be happy about tons of traffic through my neighborhood especially if a percentage were speeding.
