Resale value seems good here too. I have seen many with high mileage at what I find high price. I'm leaning towards that idea too to get a 14-15 model...

You find it too big? Dang, I thought a Ram or F-150 was ok big haha. I can imagine that in the woods anything feels big. Never been so I can't say for sure. I like the smaller size of the Tacoma compared to the trucks mentioned above.

Well, I drove an old Ranger back in the day. I really like the old school small trucks. Just a personal preference.

Even so, I think the Tacoma is the smallest on the market today.

It sure looks like it is the most compact even with four doors on it. I like that. Perfect for city street parking.

Try to get a 2013 model. That has the temperature and the directional "NESW" on the Rear View Mirror. :D Who doesn't want that?

And hey, that's a low blow man..... My first gen didn't rattle....... until I went OffRoad.

Got a question for you guys, how is this truck for family travel? I've seen somewhere that hauling kids is one thing it doesn't do well. Curious to have your input on this.

First of all Welcome to TW

To answer your question I drove 8 hours with three guys in the truck with no problems. It's way more comfortable than it seems (double cab that is) I also know there are several people that have found ways to put multiple car seats in the back and keep on trucking. If I find the link I'll post it.

Yesterday I went to my Toyota dealer and test drove the 2016 Taco TRD Sport double cab (we don't have the off-road version here in that trim). I'm 6'-2'' and I was surprised at the ergonomics of the truck. I was comfy but the bottom seat seat felt a little short, overall I know I can spend a few hours driving it no problem, the rear view mirror is blocking some of my vision when at intersections and I found myself tilting my head down a bit to look under it. I was pleased with the V-6 engine and its performance but I'm unsure if I would take the automatic tranny over a manual. Still debating on that one. I did like the automatic feel. Suspension felt great but I can't say the same for the brakes, they felt spongy and underpowered. Maybe it's a question of getting used to them. The hood scoop is quite high and blocking more vision upfront then I was expecting but I do like the look of the truck overall. Very impressed with how quiet the cab is and the finishes inside.

June 21 is the date I'm looking forward to for the vw offers to come in for tdi owners..... I'll keep you guys posted. Cheers.

Dammit it has been postponed to June 28 :(
Question for you guys, other then the benefit of easier access to the spare tire when it is installed on the tailgate, are there any other reason to change it of location?

Got a chance to test drive a 2014 Taco TRD long bed in white with 20k on the clock for a good two hours this weekend thanks to my girlfriend uncle and I must say that I was surprised at how nice the drive is. I was expecting it to be a lot noisier in the cabin then what it was. The brakes of the 14 felt better then the 16 I test drove at the dealer. Overall to save 10k I would go for the older one then a new one. Let's hope the TDI settlement come in sooner then later because this old truck wont be for sale long I'm sure ;)
