Yes, I looked at all of the photos. Looks like a bumper repair, maybe replacement. Looks like it also needs an absorber, lower valance, the grill is out on the LT side, hard to tell if its damaged. Also hard to determine if there is any other damage. Based on what I can visually see, the estimate is around $1,310 (Seattle market and labor rates).

Is there a difference between a 1k claim and a 30k claim in the eyes of a consumer? I would certainly think so. You guys that rely on Carfax are fooling yourself, I would say an extremely small percentage of auto body repairs show up on a Carfax. They in no way shape or form report anything. It's at the discretion of the insurance company, if a police report was filed during the accident, if it was considered a possible TL.

Nobody is relying on carfax dude. It was a isolated example to demonstrate why you might more seriously consider getting every penny from a dimished value claim. If you don't agree with that, so be it. Everyone has an opinion.

Yeah, reconditioned headlight. Also, with the amount of labor they billed to repair the bumper, you could have it replaced for like an additional $30. They also forgot to include R&I time for it. Other than that it looks pretty decent.

Ask the shop to use NEW OEM parts - I always ask for OEM parts. They usually don't care and will do it the cheapest way (I.E. used/reconditioned). That will raise the price some. Every state is different with regard to insurance but I would FIRST go thru the neighbors insurance. That's probably the best way to get a check in your hands made out to you. Problem is they will usually not cover any "hidden" damage and usually is the way to short change folks that just want to cash a paycheck.

Those look to be OEM part prices. I don't even think there are non oem headlights and lower bumper cover.

It just seems there are 2 parts that need to be replaced. The bumper can be repaired and painted.

    Spot on!

They wrote to replace the headlight with a reconditioned assembly.

    This^^

My front end damage went from $2800 original adjuster's quote to nearly $5k once they got in there and started finding busted brackets and clips. Fortunately a plate bumper replaces a lot of that crap, so hidden damage is less of an issue if you go that route.

Get a plate bumper and call it a good day and invite your neighbor over for a beer for
"helping" you decide. Oh and park your truck with the rear end facing his property, see if he wants to help with the rear plate bumper next! FTW BOOM

You can't demand factory parts if your insurance policy says they are ok to use aftermarket parts. Most people don't realize this, but it's written into many policies. Good thing about the 2016 Tacoma is the only parts that are most likely available are OEM.

If I were the OP I'd file a claim with my insurance company and let my insurance and Uhaul work it out between them. That's what insurance companies are for.
