WOW, was just reading through this older thread. All I can say is YOU and how you and your company handled this just sold me on ICON. I am a noob to Tacoma lifting but have lifted two jeeps in the last year on my own and have done numerous muscle car suspension mods over the years. I want to lift my sons 2014 SR5 Tacoma - Double Cab. It is currently stock when it comes to the suspension, tires/rims since he just got his lisence three weeks ago and I want him to learn how to drive before I lift his ride and screw with the center of gravity I want to lift his truck between 3-4 inches. He will be doind some mild off roading as he ages. I have the following questions if you can help out.

    1. Should I do the bumpers first due to weight before I go with a lift. I am looking at a ALLPRO Apex or a Demello Baja. Not sure on Steel vs Aluminum yet. Leaning toward steel but may take the plunge with aluminum. Safety is a bigger concern versus weight.

    2. Not sure on tire/rim size yet but I am thinking 17s or 18s around 31ish or equivalent - Recommendations??

    3. Cost is not as important to me a value. I do NOT want to have to do this again. So, I would rather go with more, than less.

    4. I was looking around, and I think I like the Stage 4, but really don't know anything much about the differences and - Pros/Cons and not sure if he needs something to that level.

    5. I want to do everything though, front and rear with LCAs. Do I need to worry about Steering Stabilizers, Trac Arms, Sways, UCAs, etc. (Remember I am new to Taco's. Jeeps have all these things when you lift them. I have two Wranglers and a Grand Cherokee plus this truck for my son which I really like)

Any thoughts or recommendations would definately be appreciated.

I'm no expert, but I just purchased a stage 5 kit and currently waiting for delivery.
I chose Icon for their quality and reputation. And it doesn't hurt being only 20 minutes from their headquarters. If I need quick work from any issues that arise, They're down the street.

King is not that much further either but I wanted what Icon offers instead. Just like you Paul. I wanted to do this right the first time. That's why I didn't opt for cheaper suspension systems. Stage 4 sounds like a great choice too.

The stage 4 will come with UCA's. I'm not going to do LCA's. I don't think that I'll need them anytime soon. I believe the package that I ordered will be enough for me for years to come.
    Good luck with your project.

I will have to see what the stage 5 gets me. I am not quite that close so I will be doing it here but I do have a Warrior Racing Shop that I have do all the 4x4 work I can't handle. thanks for the vote of confidence. Still waiting for them (Icon) to chime in. May need to give them a call.

I just bought icon stage one got the 2.5 series extended travel coil overs and 2.0 rear shock with dakar spring pack no remote resi on the shocks and icon tubular uca. unless your using the shocks for high speeds off road or serious wheeling you should be fine with a lower stage kit. I only have the front on now until Sunday and can tell a serious difference on the road I am more than happy thus far. I spent about what a stage 3 cost and got everything for suspension front and rear. I will let you know how much lift I have after the rear in on? I do like the all pro apex serious also check out pelfrey bumpers they look good too there around the same price as all pro.

I didn't read your entire post but all you need to know is that Icon is the shit. Brad at icon is the man. I've talked to them and they've been more than helpful to me with my setup. I have an AP Apex front bumper paired with my icons btw. Icons FTW :oldglory:

For what it's worth we have carried and supported Icon products before they were Icon for a number of reasons. We've dealt with other brands over the years and they all have some level of issues in relation to keeping time frames and due dates.

By by far we bleed icon black and silver because they not only stand behind their products but they fix problems that come up. They also take input from us and the end users. If they have a product that has issues they don't just ignore it they work at finding a better solution. This is something I rarely encounter with other manufactures.

I too chose Icon for their quality and reputation. I installed the Stage 2 kit on my 2016 Tacoma and loved how it looked and felt. The problem was when I heard a loud squeak coming from the driver side upper control arm. I tried calling Icon several times for some help, but nobody would answer. I waited a couple days and tried calling again. I was finally able to get a hold of someone (won't mention his name). I told him about the squeak issue and asked for advice on how to fix it. All he told me was to spray WD-40 on the bushings and if that didn't work, to look online for the answer. I was super disappointed and a little frustrated since this was not the type of response I expected from Icon. From what I understand, WD-40 ruins bushings and other suspension components. I eventually used Tri-Flow upon the recommendation of TW members. The squeak went away. I still love the Stage 2 kit and will eventually buy upper control arms, but not from Icon if that is the type of customer service being offered.
