Not a single problem with the truck, which is definitely why I bought it!! I will say the alcan highway was uneventful and I probably wouldn't make the drive again unless I need to.
The truck was overloaded and has probably 2000 pounds in the bed.

Maybe it's changed since I drove it several times. I found it to be breath taking country (Yukon and Alaska). Will always remember the several trips thru Canada and Alaska.

    Down in Homer!
I'll upload pictures when I get Internet hooked up!
    The drive was long
Some areas were breath taking... I will admit that but other areas were like driving from Bakersfield to taft or LA

Bed was loaded with tools, buyout equipment, mattresses, furniture, and a lot of house hold crap. Poor truck was pretty much on its bump stops lol

Still scared of the coming snow. I do plan on getting snow tires though. Might help the anxiety. I have a shovel and cat litter I'll be toting around with me as well

Very nice, I wish there was an air force base in Homer... I love it there. I will actually be coming down soon, when I get back into AK, for a couple days and camp on the spit! Can't wait! We will have to set up some Taco events in the Kenai area and do some camping out there! Next summer of course.. lol Winters shouldn't be too bad in Homer... But the winter tires and a little bit of wait in the bed helps with the ice!

That'd be awesome! I'd be up for that, by then I should be on my feet a little better too(big move).
I will be keeping a bunch of supplies in the bed just in case. Probably around 75 pounds worth and an extra tire so actually 125. These Dunlop tires suck so I'm hoping with new tires I'll have more confidence with traction.

I live within walking distance of the spit!

You should be fine when the snow shows up, especially in Homer. I get around no problems in H4 on all terrain tires and no weight in the bed for the 6 months of the year with snow and ice. Welcome to Alaska.

Ditch the dunlops for a decent all season tire. No need for studs with our winters lately. I drive around perfectly fine all year with my Duratracs.

Welcome to AK. What brings you to Homer? Work?
