CALL or at least go on line and file a complaint! I can't say this strong enough to go on line and file or call with your complaint because the more complaints Toyota Corporate receive the sooner they will react. Corporate called me last week about the transmission problem, among another problem with my truck, and the person I talked to said they were aware of the many post on this forum and have received many complaints from owners having transmission problems because of low fluid levels. So you see instead of complaining here or with your dealership service manager you also need to be pro-active and file a complaint on line at their website or call Toyota. My online complaint resulted in a this phone call from Toyota and they promised I would be receiving a call from a service manager within two days from another dealership (because I told them I have no confidence with the dealership I bought my truck from). True to their word within two days this service manager called and told me to set up an appointment when ever I wish to check the transmission fluid levels and my other problem. Oh and I said to this service manager when I bring my truck in I'll come in an hour or two early so the transmission fluid will cool down enough for your tech to properly check it and he said "no problem"! Not a word of the BS you read on to many posts of the dealership saying that you need to leave the truck overnight with them so the fluid will cool down enough. :)

OK, but I'm wondering when to call corporate, not if. My dealer agreed when I first brought up the trans issue to check it as described in this thread, so getting them to do it is not an issue. So I either call corp beforehand or wait until I have the results of the check to be done this Thursday. I will, tomorrow, check into the "leave it overnight" bit. That is the plan as it stands now. I volunteered to do that based on stuff I had read here. They will be providing a loaner in between and my truck will be kept inside.

Sooooo good news! I called Toyota corporate on Thursday of last week, and told them about all the issues I was having with my truck including but not limited to, the erratic shifting problems in the transmission, the low fluid in the transmission, the alignment appearing to be off at high way speeds, low grease in the zerks, etc... After 2 business days, today, they called me back and said they have granted a 7year/100000mile warranty upgrade on my truck. They will be working out the VSA tomorrow with me over the phone. The advisor I spoke to said that this will be the first one that she is doing so she is going to have some help when she calls me back tomorrow. If you have any questions for me about how to do, or anything pertaining to the issues on my truck, please let me know. Also,

ANY PROBLEMS NO MATTER HOW BIG OR SMALL HAVE TO BE REPORTED TO TOYOTA! Thats how we get things fixed in a timely manner. Toyota has been very good with me and I am a very happy customer.

Update to the poll July 5th /2016 .
Considering Toyota refuses to rectify this issue , I have contacted ATSG https://www.atsg.us/atsg/ with a full briefing requesting their input and testing . ATSG is a 3rd party transmission repair facility who concentrate on known/ new transmission issues

Just got the call from the dealership after dropping off the Tacoma...transmission was 2 quarts low. I only had 600 miles on it.

For tracking purposes, it is a 2016 Tacoma TRD Off-Road 4x4 V6 with tow package. June 2016 build coming from Mexico.

Nothing fancy, yet. Weathertech mats front/back + their mud guards, some reflective striping and custom carpets on the storage bin lids underneath the jump seats.
And the problem has not been fixed. It even seems to have gotten worse!

Yesterday, I went to my Canadian Dealer for the tranny low fluid check and grease the U-Joints. truck with 6 000 Km (3700 miles)

With few tests(in workshop & road), they added 0.65L (11⁄16 quart) of fluid.

The day before, I talk with the master mechanic of my dealer, He wasn't surprised for my request of the tranny check.
He mentioned that the addition of about half quart of fluid declined many symptoms on all Toyota models with an electronic transmission (not only 2016 Tacoma).

A good point for me, he also owns a 2016 Tacoma.

Been to the dealer 2 times for transmission issues and once for the 5000 mile service and they still won't manually check the fluid level. Took it in last week for the 5000 mile service and was assured by them it would be manually checked because it is part of the 5000 mile service. Pick it up and it says on the paperwork that is wasn't checked. I ask them about it and now they say it's a long process and they don't normally do it. I tell them I specifically asked for it and was told it would be done so they say OK and I set up another appointment for yesterday. Drop it off and verify they are going to manually check and I'm told again it's a long process but they will do it. Get a call around 1:30pm and they say they can't duplicate any of the issues but the fluid level was good. they were going to let it cool down again so they could drive it again. 5pm I go to pick it up and I'm told everything is good but if it happens again I will have to leave it overnight. So I get home and check the plugs because I put paint on them and what do I find but they haven't been touched. I just submitted an email to Toyota and I am going back there today. Is it that hard to do what you say your going to do?

Adding my data point. Got my fluid actually checked this time, and the results are...

Normal! Fluid filled properly from the factory.

3/22/2016 build date, San Antonio, SR Utility package (2.7L), 4x2.

For that much hassle and inconvenience the local dealer has caused, it might be time to print out the instructions from TW and check it yourself to be sure.
It's not hard-hard, takes maybe 10 minutes and it helps to have a friend watch the dash for the D light to come on so you can be under the truck, ready to remove the overflow plug. The first time you do it is probably the hardest. After knowing what to expect, it's pretty simple in hindsight.

I took my 2016 AC TRD Off-Road in for it's 5000 mile service and to have the issues with the transmission looked into (posts 659, 661, 655, 667 above). They checked my transmission as described in this thread and the transmission was full. I almost would have preferred that it was low, as then I could think to myself that adding some fluid took care of it. But it was full. They could not reproduce the several issues I had experienced. I have a good relationship with the dealer and service department and a senior technician there spent a fair amount of time with me answering any questions I had and going for a test drive, etc. He said that the computer log showed that the VSC had been actuated 12 starts ago at zero miles an hour. This would coincide with the lack of engagement in drive I experienced in my driveway. It would also explain the noises, although there's no explanation as to why it would be actuated at zero miles and hour. When I got home, I called Toyota and reported what had happened and they created a case number and said I would get a call back Monday to discuss further. I assume in between someone will have a word with the technician (they wanted to know who it was). So that's where things are. I'll let you all know how things progress.

Amen Brother! Good for you!!! I only wish now I had pressed the corporate Toyota representative for an additional warranty now after speaking to them and I assure you I will if I ever have to talk to them again! As for the time to report a problem, any problem, your having with your truck is NOW! Don't wait till after you've taken your truck to your dealership and listen to their razzle dazzle BS. Report any issues you have with your truck, ie transmission ect, immediately to Toyota corporate offices at:

    http://www.toyota.com/support/contact-us

Before you take it into your local dealership and have to listen to some under paid service manager tell BS like the transmission fluid can't be checked because its a sealed unit or they have to keep your truck overnight so the magical transmission fluid will cool down enough so they can check its level.
