I saw this on several other Tacomaworld threads, but I'll just link to it so you don't have to look for it. Throw one of these around the passenger end of the tailgate hinge and it'll make it super difficult to take unless they happen to have a set of small square/specialty sockets around. The big yellow key pulls off. I suggest doing so prior to installing the hose clamp as it comes off with some force the first time. I just threw it in the glove box with the OEM tail gate lock key in the bag with the replacement tailgate wiring plugs for if I ever need to remove it.

agreed but, the point is a supplemental lock.

kinda like why we have anti theft devices yet we still have door locks... its an added extra level of POM and with estimates for replacement tg's with cameras being about $3k (book part cost w/ paint), i'll gladly use more than the 1980's era lock in plastic housing it came with.

 

you're exempt from the final exam.

 

just keep it locked when not in use

 

We are working on one for the 2016 Tacoma, thought our Tundra/F-Series would fit, but it did not. We will get something out there soon, just keep it locked.

and don't be discouraged by the 'just use the lock' crowd... there's a huge market for this aftermarket security mod with rising TG prices.

i saw that on YT but the commenters stated its not practical on the G3 due to the spacing or something...

 

Mine works fine. had it on there for the 3 weeks I've owned it. Use the bed about once a week.
