    call me nate,
Have 2008 TRD Sport Tacoma access cab 4X4, STOCK. Frame inspection failed; scheduled in a couple weeks. Going to purchase bilsteins adjustable 5100 series. I would like to adjust front snap rings for 2" height. Donovan Springs is going to install a 2" block and add-a-leaf in rear; should look fairly level with some weight in back. I plan on having the leafs installed first. Then purchasing the shocks; setting the height for 2", placing them in vehicle. That way Toyota dealership can only charge me for installing front shocks cause of coils. Manager said about an hour labor. Never happy unless they can get something out of your wallet. Don't
have 10 tvs and popcorn for nothing. Bilstein says that you don't have mess with transverse case shims or rake? Has anybody gone this route and if so any advise thanks

For the rear, are you doing a 2" block and an AAL on top of that? If so, that will translate to 3.5" of lift since most AALs are 1.5. Also, you will find that most people on here are not fans of blocks in the rear because they can contribute to undesirable axle wrap. The front bilsteins adjust to 1.75 instead of 2, so if you want more you would need to put it at 2.5 setting or add a top plate spacer (will be a stiffer ride). I would think you'd still have quite a bit of rake if you lift the rear that much, unless you are putting a lot of weight back there. If you get a progressive AAL you can get either 1.5 or 2" lift in rear by either removing or leavin in the stock overload leaf, without using blocks at all. As far as rear axle shims, that will just depend on if you have driveline vibes after completing the lift...some people do and some don't.

I have my 5100's @ 1.75 (2" of lift on an Access Cab), with a 2" AAL (Also installed by Donovan Spring)(No blocks). I have 2" of rake at these settings (rear sits 2" higher than the front).

    Are you in So. NH?

I think it's possible that the progressive OR coils yield a little less lift than the SR5/ Sport coils do. I got about 2.5" out of Billies at 1.75" on my Access Cab.

What do you guys recommend; set at .85 and have Donavon add a leaf. Sounds like it would sit better. Is the 2" rake bad for your truck and how does it look? Would you set at .85 if you had to do it again

2" is what the typical rake is from the factory, so it's fine. I used to have it @ .85. If you go with that setting, you could leave the rear springs alone. You should still be an inch higher in the back with that setup.

I had them on a Ford F350 work truck at a place I used to work. He sold the truck and I asked to buy the spares he had in the shop -he agreed, but they ended up being 255/85/16 (I run 16s) so I bought those. That's the size I run. I like those skinny 32s though - might be the most legit tire size for these trucks, IMO.

    There's a 235 thread somewhere...

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/235-85-16-2-7-4cyl.357733/

these are 16" rim threads, but tires are same size @BLACK08TRD
