I'm looking for a new gas grill. I have a cheap 3 burner now that is on its last leg and not worth putting money into. My budget is $500. I have a large smoker that I use when I have time. On soccer nights at 7:00 pm, I just want to put some flame to some meat and get it on the table lol.

I would love for it to have a side burner as well. My wife won't let me cook fish on the stove top.

I've checked Lowes and Home Depot and was not impressed. Any Suggestions?

    Thanks

I'm not sure that the 2 burner would cut it as far as cooking surface area goes.

Look for Weber. Almost every brand that Lowes and The Home Depot carry are garbage and you'll be lucky to get 3 seasons out of it.

Weber Genesis if you can swing it. They are definitely a little more than $500 but are pretty much the standard for long lasting quality grills.

If it is too much, you could look at the Weber Spirit, though it is made in China (Vs USA) and not the same quality or size as the Genesis.

Weber Genesis. Bought mine 17 years ago and have only replaced the igniter. You can buy nearly any part for it. Get a good cover and take care of it, and it will last you forever.

Oh, and try to get cast iron grills if you can, they make a HUGE difference.

Agree with Weber Genesis. Got mine in the middle of winter on sale at True Value for $450. But I'm not sure I wouldn't paid the full price of $799. Wife might have killed me.

Porcelain-enameled cast-iron cooking grates are standard on the Genesis.

Mine are bare iron, they were a Home Depot-only thing, but you can get them aftermarket. I find they are more non-stick if seasoned properly. I got mine a LONG time ago though.

has anyone used the members mark grills? I saw yesterday a fairly good sized grill with a side burner for $299.00. The grates are cast iron and a fairly thick. I bet this same grill from Weber would be $700.00 bucks or more.

I don't see how it could be remotely the same quality as a Weber at $299, even being made in China.

Googling, there is some useful info here about who makes them. You never know with what is written online, but it appears a few people have had issues with gas leaks:
