in my '14 entune non-NAV radio the weather seems to get its info at initial startup and never change. If I press the button and go to the ap it will update, but if I just leave it on the screen it stays the same.

This is the most useless feature in my Tacoma, I hate it! I have the latest update installed by the dealer, does yours act the same?

Yea my location seems to be off. But it's getting its signal from HD radio towers, so I don't expect it to be super accurate. I always end up looking at my phone or watch for updated, accurate weather. And I have a '14 so I need to go get a rear view mirror with temp and compass.

I get it that there are weather stations that this thing pings off of and there isn't one in every town, but this AP is crap and very unreliable. Where I am today I've been without HD signs for 3 days.

I too am thinking of replacing my mirror. I actually have a '13 mirror out of my last Tacoma in my '14. The dealer and I were experimenting to see if it would work but it wouldn't. I could probably sell it and recover most of the money needed for the Gentex.

I keep mine in a third of the screen and if I expand it full screen then go back to home screen it will update to my current city.

SSP, I do the same only mine is on half the screen. I don't think that we should have to refresh the screen for this to update. That can't be right can it? I mean I get it if it lost signal and it keeps the last one, but wouldn't you think that it would know that you moved to a different area? If I leave Pittsburgh and drive to Florida non-stop, what good would Pittsburgh weather do me? It may never change if I don't shut the truck off.

Replace this radio with another just like it and it's about $700. Is this something that a $700 radio should do? Gimme a break!

Mine seems to update...drove 8 hours 1 way couple weeks ago and it stayed updated with closest city as long as I had HD Radio service

Went from Columbia SC to Atlanta GA to Destin FL and it changed with several smaller towns around Atlanta and various other locations between the big cities

OEs should get out of the consumer software business, or at least partner with ones who know what they are doing.

I've never seen a fancy shmancy vehicle that worked nearly as well as a simple phone or portable GPS.

I completely agree, 2 years later I can make no sense of it.

Its the worst thing about the truck. My "city" doesn't even exist. The closest weather I can get to my hometown is about 20 miles away. Half the time, no HD signal is available. I wish it just had a standard readout of the outside temp. I don't want to browse through apps to find out the weather outside.

But, for the record, mine seems to update as I go. I never leave it open, but every time I tap into the weather it is somewhat close to the city I am in.

Shakerhood..... That's the genius on this whole thing, HD radio sucks ass even in populated areas, surely someone would have thought that this would never work in rural areas?????
