    Greetings all !

I was driving home June 29th when a lady made a left turn in front of me. I was already in the intersection but slammed on the brakes - alas my 2003 Tacoma got hurt ! I have 108 000 km on her. and other than what you see she is in great shape ! She had never been in an accident previous...

I am wondering what your thoughts are ... the insurance company has written her off because of her age ! I am having an extremely difficult time finding a replacement with low mileage...

Any and all advice is appreciated ! I can not believe I just found this great forum now and under these circumstances ...

    Regards,

    Lynn

First and foremost. I hope everyone involved is okay.

Very unfortunate to see a low mileage 1st gen Tacoma totaled as they aren't very easy to find + they tend to hold on to their value.
I would do some research to get a current gauge on the market for a similar or comparable truck.

Do not let the insurance company low ball you. Not saying they will, but a little info will help ensure that you get fair compensation.

    Best of luck

    Hi RC84 !

It was only me and yes I hope I will be alright too !

Thank you for your advice I have no experience here ... mine is a 2003 Toyota Tacoma 4 Door Crew Cab 5 Foot Bed 3.4L 6 Cyl Gas A 4WD... they compared her to a 2003 Toyota Tacoma PreRunner 2 Door Extended Cab 6 Foot Bed 6 3.4 CYL GAS A RWD with 256,999 km and a 2003 Toyota Tacoma 4 Door Crew Cab 5 Foot Bed 6 3.4 CYL GAS A4WD L with 353,999. While they made 'adjustments' the numbers seem low to me... similar ones seem to be $15 000 CDN + to purchase...

They have offered me $ 10 285 CDN which I believe is low when I look at other similar Tacomas... thoughts ? Thank you !!

    Regards,

    Lynn

Bed rug, ARE bed top, Weathertechs. Little goodies here and there!
1st off, glad your at least ok. A truck is replaceable. You are not!

The offer they provided is really low, especially for such a low mile Taco. I wouldn't accept that. Utilize kbb.com or other sites to calculate your value, then present it as a counter offer. I came up with almost 13k US dollars and that's with me not knowing much about your truck.

    Good luck.

    Hi Lynn,

I would gather your findings (comparable vehicles) and present them to the insurance co. I know that prices are quite different up there vs here, so I cannot give much advice on what a fair price would be. Generally speaking, tacomas seem to command higher prices in your area.

After doing a quick search in my area, a 2003 Tacoma 4wd double cab, with roughly 80k miles tend to go for $12 - $16k.

    Here are a couple links:

$10,285 cdn seems way too low.

    Hello all,

Thank you for your kindness and data I sure appreciate it ! I am really attached to that truck which I never realized - we have been through a lot together from the very first km (purchased brand new :) )!

Mark the truck was stock except for the polyurethane spray liner & command start - but no wrecks and regular maintenance. The windshield was trashed but she was scheduled for a replacement mid-July... I miss her already !

I look forward to purchasing my next Tacoma and actively participating here in these forums !

    Regards,

    Lynn
