Added a Steelcraft grillguard , that was modified by local shop by adding an extra bar along the bottom and around the fog lights for more protection. And then had the guard done in LineX. This turned out really well and I've had lots of compliments.
I added an OEM Audio Plus sound system to my 2016 Tacoma. I'm loving it and think it's a lot better than the JBL.I've had this for about two months now.

It's pricey. Go to their website. There's a video of the install. It looks very nice though. Practically looks factory.

I've had the same system for about 2 months also. If anyone wants a plug and play kit they can install themselves, I highly recommend it.

I'd say go for it. I spent about 4 hours installing mine give or take, and I took a few breaks. The install video is spot on.

Only thing to note for any of the guys that are looking at this system, if you watch the video on their site, it shows that the pig tails on the harness are supposed to plug in facing the drivers side. That wasn't the case on mine and another members. The bracket on the amp was set up that the connections faced the passengers side. I tried to flip it and couldn't get the bolts out (I have no idea who tightened down their bolts, but he's a strong SOB). Not a huge issue, but when I put my seat all the way forward about 3 weeks ago, it disconnected both pig tails meaning I lost all sound in the truck. Took me about 20 minutes to figure it out. I did some wire relocating the other day and fixed this issue.

    Just something to note.

The sound quality is fantastic. It's not meant to have a ton of bass and thump your brains out, it's meant to have great clarity. If that's what you are going for, you'll like it. If you want the punch to the chest of a 12" woofer, you won't get it out of this.

That's my opinion on it, over the past couple months. IDK about the OP. If you search the boards though, most people love the system as compared to factory or factory JBL.

I installed mine a month ago.... Over all the quality and the plug and play feature is fantastic, however one thing I've noticed is the sound level coming out of the rear speakers is only about 1/4 of what comes out of the front speakers, so the front speakers are handling the majority of the sound. I've reached out to OEM Audio+ and they are investigating this and hopefully they'll have a solution soon. What's your thought on this? How is the midrange levels on your system? I've had to turn down the midrange levels all the way down as it seems really high.

I watched this whole video as well a few days back. The system looks fantastic but that price though... ($1500 btw, because it hasn't been mentioned yet)

I noticed the same, and just adjusted accordingly. I'm about half deaf from years of drum corp and standing on a flight line next to jets, so I crank my music half the time and don't notice it. The mid range sounds decent enough to me. I'm fairly easy to please....not exactly an audiophile. But I know what I like, and this fits that bill. It made the drive from Louisiana to Cali bearable by myself lol

I don't find 1500 to be that bad in all honesty (just IMO). By the time you price out what you get, and attempt to get it to look as factory as this system looks, and figure on how good this system sounds, you'd be close in price. Sitting down with a calculator and figuring all the extra crap I'd have to do to get a system to look and operate like the Ref 450Q, I was spending just as much with more ass pain.

I've pieced together systems before, on other trucks, because there wasn't an option like this. If I had to do it again, I would buy this system, and not think twice about it. You get what you pay for.

Last night experimenting and adjusting the settings on the head unit, I was able to get a much better full surround sound presentation by fading the majority of the sound to the rear speakers which in turn cut down a lot of the excess midrange levels present in the front speakers. I still have the Midrange levels below half but the system sounds a lot better with 80% of the sound level coming from the rear speakers... Give it a try and let me know what you think.

I had the oem + system in my tC and loved it. I am thinking about getting a double cab '16 so this is going towards top of my want list, but for now I'll live with the jbl system

I've been happy with my JBL. If you want a premium sound then it might make sense to go this route in the first place if you are buying a truck with the tech package.

I did on the way home today. Sounds a bit better. Thanks for putting the idea out there!

From what everyone has said, this sounds a considerable amount better than the JBL FWIW. So I don't know if I would compare the two.

I've noticed with the past few trucks and cars I've had with "premium sound", it's not exactly premium. My Titan had a full rockford fosgate system in it...and it sounded good don't get me wrong...but aftermarket RF components sounded far better. Kinda like the rancho shocks that came on the same truck which were junk compared to aftermarket ranchos...which were slightly better junk lol

There's been a trend of vendors posing as buyers with brand new UserIDs stating how great their recent purchase is. Cheap bumpers, Retrofitted headlights, Audio equipment, ect. Not saying OEM Audio isn't good, but it looks like another "drive-by" sales pitch with very few details and stock photo.

If you're going to drop a review, detail that shit up! :D

Anyone else find it odd that the same year OEM started making their products was the same year of the Roswell cover up? Must be a conspiracy that someone here bought the system and installed it without feeling inclined to take pictures or tell us that they used a Craftsman versus a Snap-on screwdriver. What would happen if they had used a Blue-Point screwdriver?!?!?!?! The world may never know...

On a serious note, I think any bit of knowledge about audio gear will let you know definitively that their system HAS TO BE an improvement over the stock system and that buying all separate components is a much greater undertaking and will yield entirely different results...YMMV.

Let the guy enjoy his system.
