I've got the exact same question.

I've been reading this forum for a long time, since the gen 2 even. But I finally signed up because this questions been killing me. Do you let yourself get bullied by the stealerships? I've seen plenty of people on here say they've gotten great pricing! Can anyone direct us to a trustworthy ( if there is such a thing ) salesmen that would give great pricing?

The prices people pay vary wildly dependent on many factors. One key factor is location. I you live anywhere close to a metropolitan city, you'll pay more than the guy who lives in a town with a thousand people.

IMO, don't get caught up in the "you read on the internet of who paid what game" It's destructive... People often mention the super low price they paid as a 'one up' kind of game.

The best way to approach this is if you are happy with the purchase. Did the dealer treat you well? Once you own the truck and drive it for a few years, are you really going to think about how you paid a thousand bucks more than some stranger on the internet?

There are a lot of people who have done their homework and have saved thousands. Me included.

Sure. To me, time = money. I don't have the time or patience to get a truck shipped out of state.

I also will absolutely never_ever buy a vehicle sight unseen and never driven. But obviously that's just me.

Let's use yourself and myself as an example. In your out of state buying thread, you mentioned you paid 2300 under MSRP. I paid 700 under MSRP with no haggling. That's 1600 difference.

My purchase was done at a dealer 10 miles from me who had the exact truck I wanted. I went in, and was able to do an extended test drive (based on problems i've read, and go through the truck with a fine tooth comb) I was in and out with my purchase in under an hour and enjoying my truck.

I did not have buy a plane ticket, cost of gas, and an extended freeway drive home on a brand new truck. To me, that was worth the 1600 difference.. But like I said, this is just my opinion. Actually you factor in the cost of the plane ticket and gas, the cost difference is probably closer to a grand..

that is way too much for a sr5. Dont know how much inflation has gone into play but my 10' sport ac ran me 28k out the door brand new. Our 11' runner sr5 ran for 32k as well new out the door.

I flew there and drove it home. The trip cost me around $300. I drove it before I signed off on it. It's worth it but if you're content to buy paying sticker feel free. I'm sure the dealership will love that.

I did not pay sticker. I paid what I thought was acceptable for me. Again, for me.

Portland to Socal is 1,000 miles. It's great that you have that kind of time to drive a brand new truck home. I don't.

I've got some time before I can / will get something new. The OP wants something ASAP it seems. So paying top dollar for an SR sounds pretty ridiculous.

Starting to think I may have gotten a not that great deal on my truck when I bought it... o_O

Still worth it though, just probably could have talked them down a couple thousand if I'd tried.

I wouldn't even worry about it. As long as you like the truck, don't worry about what others paid.

I really don't worry, truth be told. I know I got more on my trade for what it was than I should have, and my truck is all paid off so it's mine now regardless of how much it cost. Now if only I could figure out how to make my mods cost less...

Toyota just called me back. They will agree to a $6500 difference. But based on what I have seen here, I am still not liking that deal. Maybe if it were an SR5 not just an SR

I am also new and I just did the EXACT same thing on Sat. I had an 05 WRX that was set up exactly how I wanted it. I put a TON of work and money into it and I got the shaft with the trade.

However, when doing so I needed to consider what it was going to cost me time and money to return it to stock to pass a state inspection (if you have one.) I traded because I just didn't have the time to make those changes.

However for the area, I got a great deal on my 14 Sport as it was on a Chevy lot.

Trust me, once you do it, If you haven't already, you will not be sorry.
