    The more expensive one is the second version of the cheaper one and has the large battery. I recommend the large battery with either radio you go with. Mine was last charged over 6 months ago and held the whole weekend.

    The cheap one (UV-5R) will be fine. Add the power adapter to have as a backup.

    I could. Loud and clear. Only issue I had was that I couldn't respond since I didn't have the Nagoya antenna. Going to be ordering two of them though.

    I know the one that @jAndyMendo let me borrow was a Yeasu. Worked great! Until i strted drunk dialing.....:rolleyes:. They are pretty spendy from what i saw. Those yellow ones seemed pretty good too i think. No?
    I think the better antenna makes a big difference

    You only need that cable if you plan to geek out programming it. I'd be happy to program your radio for you. You can manually key in the frequency you need on an as-needed basis, so it really isn't necessary.
