And when toytec had them tested they came back at 717.

So, first the OP has a 2nd gen not a 3rd gen. Second, OE 2nd gen's have always had 600's which is why every aftermarket manufacturer spec's a 600 for the OE replacement CO's.

I would still be shocked if that 3rd gen 700 was true that would mean the 3rd gen is around 200-300 lbs heavier in the front end ...the gvwr's on comparable models only show the 3rd gen 100lbs heavier overall ?

Right. It's not a significant weight increase at all. Which is why I was stating that the coils on the stock 16's don't feel stiff to me even though they're rated at 700 or more by toytec and toyota themselves. It's simply to say that in my opinion the springs don't feel stiff on a mostly stock truck. So I feel staying at a 600-650 springs would feel off with all the added weight.

Ya that's happened I've witnessed from Icons explode on the trail as well as a set of foxes. My Icons I bought second hand and had them rebuild and messed with cause they leaked like a sob, been perfect ever since and I'm not nice to them. But if you got the money that king blue does look sexy

Better to ask what I have not done.
If the lower coil over mount where it mounts to the lower control arm is closer to the cam bolts or if the spindle is further away from where the coil over mounts you have more lever arm and so that would need larger spring rates.

If you lengthen or shorten the lever you change the amount of force required. Even though the truck's weight essentially the same if you move the bottom strut mount in or out on the LCA you change the amount of spring rate required to hold the truck up. The mounting point on the 3rd gen LCA may be closer to the center of the truck which would require a stronger spring to feel the same.

I have extended travel icons with 700# springs... Get kings... Much better choice. If I stay mid travel I'll get kings or if I go to a 2+ kit it will be kings...

Navigation... i use locus map pro on android. It is a full gps map environment, offline maps, tracks, waypoints, etc. I spent sometime using different map products and found this one to be the best.

Quick trip report! I loosely followed the Apllegate emigrant trail through the Black Rock Desert and High Rock Canyon in Nevada last week. It was pretty amazing and I saw not a single other person for 2 days. Over all a great trip with some minor offroading, hardly had to put it in 4x4 but certainly lost some paint to all the sage brush. Only hiccup was my tailgate latch broke on day 2 meaning I couldn't get to anything under the deck including the tools I needed to pull apart said deck. No stove, chair, firewood, awning or recovery gear for the rest of the trip, worse case I could have busted through the plywood with my axe but decided to just live without. Used Hema for the first time and really liked it, I am having problems uploading my track to the cloud for some reason. Anyway here are some pics.

Great pics, like the dry lake one best. Thx for trip report. :) So your tailgate was stuck in the up position? That's a drag.... Haven't heard of that happening on 2nd gen before...

Last weekends camping/wheeling trip in Waiparous, Alberta. Had a great time, weather held up and the scenery was top notch.
