AC Fan only work on HIGH

    My AC fan on my 06 Tacoma only works when the switch is on HIGH! Any ideas why?

    OME 883 front, OMD 3.5" rear, Relentless front bumper, smittybilt 9.5K winch
    In the passenger footwell there is a electrical connection, take it apart and see if you see any signs of heat/burning.
    My cousins 2005 tacoma had the issue of the fan blowing on high only (Or off) and the heat in the connection had warped one of the pins away from the contact, bend it back and you'll be good for a few years.

    This fixed mine for now I will have to see how long it lasts. I put some dielectric goo on the connection. The schetchy thing is why do the wires get hot?

    Loose connections on the plug cause more amps to be drawn causing heat.

    No, that is backwards.

    The loose connection causes a higher resistance to current flow ( less Current ) and the extra energy supplied from the battery is converted to heat.

    Toyota does sell a replacement cable end if needed. There is a thread here somewhere that has a part number. You will either need to Butt Splice the wires or solder and heat shrink them.

    I have this same issue. Is it still cool to run it in high until I replace the resistor + harness? Can any electrical gurus explain why this still works in high?

    In the lower speeds the current is routed through the various resistors to lower the current and reduce the speed of the fan. In high speed it is not routed through the resistors.

    I have owned 3 Toyotas prior to this one...
    It doesn't hurt anything, it just has 2 speeds.
