Brake lines.... Since I am putting my 12" smoothies on there. How long do I need to extend my lines to? Stock was 19" in the back.

Alright boys I'm in need of advice. Although I'm outta country making that money honey, the ol' lady and I talked about it and our goal is get outta debt and buy a house instead of making the truck into the rig I want it to be. That being said, my mods are going to be simple this round but next time I'm out the door its going to be on like Donkey Kong!

I was hoping to slap some 6112/5160 Billies paired with Dakars and a flip kit this tour but there is always next I suppose. Anyways enough dreaming, I think I'm going to get a CB and hopefully swing some tires. I have my eyes on BFG KO2s but we shall see how it goes.

The advice I'm in need of is my CB set up. I like the Uniden 520, anyone running this model?
    https://www.amazon.com/Uniden-PRO52...=1468402001&sr=8-1&keywords=Uniden+Pro+520+XL

I was going to pair it with a QD and the ProComm heavy duty barrel spring
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000UTQUAK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s04?ie=UTF8&psc=1

For the PA speaker I was going to go with a cheap one since I don't think it will get too much use
    https://www.amazon.com/PSP8-Weather...&qid=1468405762&sr=8-1&keywords=cb+pa+speaker

I'm new to the whole CB thing so I'm unsure of what exactly I should spend my money on, any help would be greatly appreciated. Also be sure to take lots of pictures on Range Days to make me peanut butter and mothafuckin jealous! There are lots of Hilux and Land Cruisers where I'm at and seeing them is giving me an itch only 4WD will scratch! Hope all you guys are doing well!

    EDIT:
After further research I'm now torn between the Uniden and this Cobra...
    https://www.amazon.com/Cobra-LTD-40...&qid=1468410539&sr=8-9&keywords=cobra+classic

    Any input is greatly appreciated!

What antenna are you gonna get? The CB really doesn't matter honestly, I have a cobra 25 Ltd I think it is and a firestik II tune able antenna. It's all about the coax cable and the antenna positioning and length. If you get a 5 foot antenna, that spring mount will not hold up. I'd reccomend the spring mount for 102" whips, mines held up awesomely

Ah yeah!! Joining the CB crowd. I'll try and go in order.

That's a fine radio, but if you're willing to spend a little more, I recommend the Bearcat 880. I like it because it looks very sleek and modern, and compliments our truck interior nicely.
    20160506_143636.jpg

I wouldn't worry about the quick disconnect. I've read that they're not machined very precisely, so you get a bit of play. I just use a wrench and take off my antenna when I'm not wheeling, and it takes all of 5 seconds.

What antenna are you going with and where are you going to mount it? Like Chris said, that'll make or break your set up. I personally recommend the rear tailgate mount from BAMF (that's what I have) and either a 4' or 5' firestik. 3' will be too short there. There are plenty of other options though, such as mounting it in the bed rails, or up on the hood where ditch lights go.

That's a sweet little PA speaker, and it's what I'm running. It's great for say talking to someone walking by, or someone with their window down at a stoplight, but don't expect to be yelling at people while driving with their windows up.

Well, I think I covered everything!! Here's a picture of my mount and where I ran the wire. An 18' coax is the perfect length.

All the PA is is a speaker with a long cord and a 3.5mm jack on the end. That jack will plug into the back of the CB and that's it! Just make sure your CB has a PA option

Soooooooo, looks like I'm moving off base into a place in fort walton off racetrack by the end of the month! My application got approved today and I'm pretty sure my buddies got approved too. So in the next few days gotta pay the deposit and then whenever for the 1st months rent. But I'll finally have a 2 car garage all to myself and a place to work on both the trucks and when and if any of you guys need help, I'll have a place finally to do all this shit lol

Just finished putting in the front shocks; did the rear on Tuesday. I rushed doing it because I won a surplus M1102 trailer and my schedule dictates I pick it up this weekend. I set the front 5100s on the first notch and got about 1.5" of lift out of that, even though Bilstein says .85", I am sure it will settle lower.

Are the headlights adjustable? If these shocks don't settle down, I think they will need to be aimed a bit lower.

Picture of the trailer I bought. Our plans are to turn it into an overland adventure trailer with storage in the bottom and adding rails for a roof top tent to go on it. Mostly only ideas at this point; it will be a slow build.

Thanks man! Can't wait, I pay the deposit tomorrow and my buddy will get the first months rent

Nice man, yeah they are adjustable, there's a circular knob thing iirc on the back of the headlight, it might be covered by a plastic* cover, but that should adjust them

How much did that trailer run you? And also... I just bought some new King springs.. 14"-700# so hopefully that will help me settle into some 35s a bit easier!

A house with a garage is fantastic! That's something I didn't think about when I bought my house.

Bids start at $300; I paid just under $1,000, $675 for trailer plus about $300 in fees and taxes. The trailers usually sell between $600 and $1200. They have a transportation company that will give quotes on picking it up and delivering it to you. They wanted about $500 to move it for me, but I figured I could have a pretty nice adventure getting it myself for $500. We get to go visit our friends in Jacksonville and drive up to Ft. Stewart (near Savannah).

I bought from GovPlanet.com. You can buy a real HMMWV, they start at $5K, but you may have trouble licensing it for street use.

Got it home. Gas mileage was horrible on the return trip. Stopped in Valdosta to eat and get fuel, went 140ish miles on 10 gallons.

    Crummy cell phone photo.

It wasn't great, but it wasn't horrible. I drove 55 MPH from Ft. Stewart to Valdosta; mileage got worse after we got on the freeway and tried to drive 70 and had to settle at 65. Some truck with Texas plates, pulled up next to us and gave a thumbs up and big smile. Had a few strange looks while we were stopped for fuel.

Gotta figure out how I want to get it to drive level.

    14 mpg would be nice
