    hey y'all -

Just made the plunge. After years of lurking and shopping... I finally bought a Tacoma. 2007 AC 4x4 TRD OF. I bought it with some minor cosmetic flaws (a few sun-faded spots), in need of new tires, and new brakes. Also got a hell of a deal on it because they guy was having a hard time selling it because it was a 6 speed manual. It wasn't a problem for me, so I made the plunge.

    I am:
    1) I first time tacoma owner
    2) a first time truck owner

I bought a Tacoma because I knew that mods/learning would be somewhat easy, and I am really interested in trying to do some of this myself. I have already removed the side steps and replaced the tires.

I did have some questions... I have scoured some forums but haven't seen much. So I figured I would ask.

    1) when going over pot holes or other bumps, I tend to feel the effect of those bumps a lot in the truck. No suspension/shocks/lifts have been modified or installed. For example, my previous car was a buick LaSabre (judge away - it was free), and that thing glided over pot- holes and stuff. Is that just a part of the truck experience? Or can I install/replace parts to make the drive smoother? Eventually wanna level it out, but I don't wanna just throw a block lift on it.

    2) Manual Tacoma owners - I have drive a stick on and off since I was 16. and I have never had a vehicle that shifts so heavily. Is that normal? Fluids are all great. I've had the truck for about 2 months but travel a lot... so maybe I just haven't mastered the shifting.

Anyways, if y'all have information or places to point me to, feel free to let me know. Thanks!

    Before I bought it.

Congrats on your truck and welcome to TW.

    1) Trucks typically ride stiffer than cars and it is probably normal IMO. New tires could make a difference though. Also no harm or cost in having it checked.

    2) No experience with 2nd gen mt, sorry.

    Enjoy
