I'm using the LC7i and from my understanding, running speaker wires into that should trigger the amps to turn out without the need for the remote wire..... However..... I want to connect a toggle to the amp for the sub so I can flip the subs off easily. How can I toggle my sub amp on and off if its always getting power based on the speaker wire/lc7?

Would I run the remote output from the LC7i back up to my toggle switch, then back to my amp?

Would I even need to run remote wires to both my amps?

    Thanks

You have to run power/ground to the lc7i in addition to the trigger wire. You would want to switch the constant power wire. Personally, I'd just add the bass volume knob under the dash

I'm only trying to toggle the amp powering the subs, not the 4 channel amp for the door speakers. This is mainly so I can toggle it off when driving through the neighborhoods. I don't like to advertise "hey come steal my steal"

I agree with @hookembevo. You can get a bass knob for your lc7i. That's what I did with my kicker zxsum8 and it works beautifully. I put it in my arm rest.

That gets me to my post for the day. I finally relocated and rewired my zxsum8 with the speedwire and harness I made. I originally and stupidly had it mounted to the back of my amp rack behind my seats. Hindsight is 20/20. With it back there is couldn't troubleshoot or adjust anything on it. I borrowed @Aw9d idea for a small shelf under the back seat in the storage bin. Thanks for that brotha!! Well I must have had something wired wrong because now my sub output on the signal processor works along with the bass knob and the entire system sounds 10x better now. I can't wait for @Aw9d to help me tune it. Here are some pics

And this is all the speaker wire that I eliminated with the speedwire!

It will be so much easier to just get the bass knob from audiocontrol you can turn them all the way off if you want to

I have a bass knob from another amp, does it work the same with a telephone line looking hookup?

I'm not sure you would probably have to ask audiocontrols customer service. I know they are based out of Washington state, I think in Seattle.

Yeah I found the knob on Amazon, but since my JL amps already come with knobs I figured I wouldn't need to spend an extra $26 on top of the $2K+ that I just spent on everything else. I'll have a build log up as soon as Mr Marv finishes my box. BTW he provides amazing customer service and answered all of my questions.

But I just want to confirm.... I do NOT need to run a remote wire to my two amps or my LC7 since they will receive signal power from the speakers input on my LC7?

So the 9 wire speedwire only 8 wires should be utilized?

    Thanks yall.

Use the bass knob for your jl audio amps for sure then.
@Mr Marv is one of the nicest guys you will ever talk to for sure.

You can hook up the 9th wire to the switched power wire on your harness and use it as a remote wire for all of your equipment

If you're already running speed wire, I'd go ahead and wire the 9th wire for the remote turn on of the lc7i. You will still need some type of trigger wire for your amps as well. You can use the remote turn on output that's on your lc7i and run to amps. That is what I did, and my setup is similar to yours.

good morning everyone. I'm looking for a bit of advice before i start my own build.
I found a good deal on an alpine PDXF4 so I'm going to use that to drive a new set of hertz speakers. No sub at this point.
My main concern is signal to the amp. I was originally planning on using a Rockford Fosgate RF-HLC4 as a LOC mounted behind the amp and running the RCAs to the amp in the back. However after reading several threads, I'm concerned it won't do the trick and I should be moving to the LC7i with speedwire route. Looking for some feedback or experience others have had with these simple LOCs.

    Thanks

    Steve

What I did on my build is run a wire from the lc7i remote out to the amp remote in. The lc7 has the auto turn on feature so no remote in is necessary. Also my 5ch amp had the sub remote, not the lc7i.

I actually did not like the LC2i Bass Knob... it seemed like it didn't do anything until the very end (turning it up). I switched to the Alpine Bass Knob straight off my amp and it made a world of difference. It's much more accurate and sensitive.

Either way will work. LC7i will give you a little more ability to tune, and also add outputs for a sub that you can use should you decide to add one.

With this method, does it require you to run separate speaker wire to the doors (from amplifier)? Could this method accommodate using OEM speaker wiring? I think I'm ready for the challenge to tackle an upgrade :)
