Ok, so I have gotten a problem, just this morning on my route to work. I was driving on the highway, travelling at about 110 km/h (roughly 65 mp/h) and my 2006 Toyota Tacoma 4.0L v6 manual, lost power, and the power came back after I took my foot off the peddle and put it back on. This continued to happen about 6 or so times. No lights came on at all. I called the dealership, they have never heard of it, and I also called a local mechanic, and he can't tell me what he thinks it is either. Another effect, is that the truck won't engage in cruise control anymore. Everything was fine last night and happened this morning. I have a few suspicions that it may be. Old transmission fluid, bad spark plugs, and possibly just bad fuel. And advice helps!
    Thanks!

The fact that cruise control won't engage sounds like an electrical issue.
It also sounds like a possible bad fuel pump, or bad fuel.

I was also suggesting an electrical issue, but both mechanics mentioned that a check engine light would come on. But still is a possibility

A CEL would not necessarily come on from a blown fuse (Caused by a short in the drive by wire system) or a possibly bad throttle position sensor.

thanks! I will check my fuses, and then get my throttle sensor checked as well.

2nd gen tacomas only have a sock filter in the tank, not user serviceable (Unless you drop the tank or pull the bed).

Most cruise controls are controlled by vacuum.

if the vacuum is cracked, would that also affect the power loss?

So it will be quite expensive to get the dealer to change this?

I personally don't know but this is what Google says.

Yes, several hours of labor plus parts.

Don't rule out or not inspect the exhaust system. Your symptoms lead to a potential clogged catalytic converter. Considering the age of your truck sounds like a high probability. Fortunately its a pretty direct, cheap, fix compared to say a fuel problem.

Well, no check engine light, so until there is one, I will leave that out of the question

Have you personally had a throttle position sensor fault out on you? If so, did a check engine light pop up, and was the same thing happening?

Would this have any effect on the cruise control not engaging?

Potentially, negative back pressure could cause the engine to retard, thus kicking the cruise control off.
