Speakers for 1st gen DC

Looking at upgrading my door speakers since they are OEM from '03.
I have a sony single DIN HU but will be upgrading to a different HU with bluetooth.
I also have a powered sub that works well enough for me.

Looking for 4 speakers (Budget is ~90/pair) and a 4 channel amp (Not sure on budget, I would like to spend less than 150).

 

After using the US Acoustics Lisa amp for 8 months or so, I'm going to recommend it with zero reservation (except perhaps size). Of course you have a kazillion options, but this one I can vouch for. There's a little hiss if you have tweeters with a good frequency response (with your budget that's unlikely), but I only notice it in the garage with the windows up. Alpine MRV F-300 might be a good choice too. Lots of junk in that price range, but I'd say those 2 are solid choices. Zapco makes a decent amp in your price range. There are many others as well.

That's a tough price point with speakers. I'd probably personally do Image Dynamics or Alpine 5x7 in that range. Just watch your depth. My 5.5s in my 2003 leave about 1mm to the window rail and that's using a maybe 1/8 baffle/spacer made of a cutting board. Going with adapters and 5.25/5.5 inch drivers will give you more options and would even let you get into a cheaper component set for the front.

 

Trying to buy everything through crutch field, does this seem alright?

 

That should work for the most part. You only get a 2-channel patch cable with that & you'll need another. It doesn't give you much in the way of upgrade room, but should work just fine if you stick to that little amp.

 

Got my stuff in today, puled the HU and got the old one out and started all the wiring, simple as usual but I noticed something on the chart for the Metra adapter (

70-1761), there is an Amp Ground wire (Black/White) that I don't see on my sony wiring.
It's a light gauge wire that can't handle the amps that the amp would pull, since it's a ground do I need to run it to a ground bolt or just cap it and not worry about it?
