I know there are many people here on TW that use solidworks, rhino, and autocad programs on a daily basis.

Where would I go to see overveiws of the different programs?
Are there any that I can download and try?
    Anyone use autodesk BIM?

Have the line on a new job and need to get started learning these porgrams. Going to run laser cutters, cnc machines, router tables, and robotic arms. Also sevral 3d printers and new machines every year. Its a big change from my current job, but I think I will really like this. Any help would be great.

I've done a mod or two
I'm pretty knowledgeable on Solid works. The auto desk programs are useless for what I do so I can't help there.

Usually you can find the solid works student developer kit for free because colleges post the download key to their websites.
