I have a 2011 Tacoma (blue) double cab. It only has 18,000 miles on it. I was wondering what are the common maintenance issues over the course of 2nd gen models? Also, does anyone else have a blue Tacoma and recommend the best way to preserve the paint other than waxing?

Man that's low mileage for a 2011. Are you the first owner?

As for maintenance, check the owners manual, or go to a dealership and ask for one if you don't have one. It lays it all out pretty clearly. Keeping lubricated seems to be the best way to make these trucks last forever.

I'm the 2nd owner. It was barely driven by the first owner. I absolutely love it and am so thankful for it too. I previously owned an 04 Chevy (work edition) and my Tacoma is so much nicer! I have the original owner's manual and checked out the Haynes repair manual from my library. From what I hear Tacomas barely have any issues and should last a long time. The only current issue I have is the stereo system right speaker doesn't seem to be working fully. Have you had this issue?

I don't have that issue but I've blown my "tweeter" in the driver side door. Oh well. Speakers aren't made the way they used to be.

Yeah I had a new stereo system and Sony speakers in my Chevy. So I'm probably not used to the sound. I plan to upgrade the speakers in the future. What is ASL btw?

American Sign Language? Age/Sex/Location, the old AOL question? I don't know the context

On the standard stereo options there is a selection called ASL. It is within the bass, treble, etc options. I just looked it up and apparently it means automatic sound levelizer. Not sure what that means.

ASL is an adjustment for the stereo volume. The faster you go, the louder it plays because of road noise. As for maintenance, you should have a maintenance schedule book thats seperate from the owners manual. Its very detailed at what to do at each mileage interval.

So are you asking about common issues or what to maintain? I don't think I've run into any issues during maintaince.
