While waiting for my 885 springs. I went ahead and put the rear shocks on. Around town its an improvment. Slowly over speed bumps its very controlled. Just went hiking and ran about 10mi on dirt. Washboard and potholes. It was horribly rough. Couldn't run more than 10mph or the rear end was gonna bounce me off the road. Same effect at fast speeds over railroad tracks. Say 35 to 40 mph. Now wondering about the whole lift. Already have wheeler progressive aal purchased. I intend to put that on without the overload. Will the 5100's ride better with the aal. Or can i except the same.

The ass end of pick-up trucks without a load are always a bit bouncy.

I would imagine the truck will ride stiffer with the AAL. Suspension tends to break in over time, so maybe give it a few weeks. And if you adjusted them to max (or high) height, that will compromise comfort, too.

I havn't put anything on but the rear bilstein 5100's. I ran 20 miles of dirt road last weekend with the stock trd billy's and it was great.

Your tire pressure will come into play on rough roads

Nothing changed since last weekend except 5100's in rear. I run 30psi. Can anyone who has put the 5100's with a progressive aal in rear chime in. Is it more jumpy off road than stock?

I have 5100 on all around and toyec AAL in the rear. It's a bit bouncy when empty but not when loaded down. I didn't do off road stock, so I couldn't tell ya.

Ok. Have you taken it down potholes and washboard dirt roads? While unloaded. Was it unbearable. Mine is right now! Everyone says how great the ride is with this lift setup. Just wondering if it will improve when i put the progressive aal on. It seems to me like it would stay the same. Or be even stiffer.

A few and I find it bearable. I hve also driven some teeth rattlers too. I also have a DCSB V6 4X4 with a factory tanoe cover and about 80 pounds of gear (crap) in the bed, so I'm not sure how that compares to you yours.

It just may need some time to loosen up a bit.

I have 5100's all around with 885's and a single Deaver AAl in the rear. I LOVE the ride, huge upgrade to stock! You need to get some weight in the back of your truck (I normally run ~300lbs). If you want to eliminate the bounce that's how. Higher quality new shocks are going to compress when you have more wight over them.

Drop to 15-18 psi when off road

That's what you do for wash board

Kinda second guessing this lift for me. Do you think a canopy alone would be enough weight to do the trick. I spend a fair amount of time running roads like this for hiking and hunting. Often don't have a bunch of weight in the back.

Are you dripping your pressures every trip before and after the lift?

The only time my stock set up was every close to smooth on wash board on 35psi tires was when we had my wife's 425 pound quad in the bed. It was OK then and we didn't air down because we weren't driving the truck in the off road Park we went to

I own 5100s all around with Toytec 2" AAL and Eibach springs up front. I have 17k miles on the set up and it is still "stiff". Keep in mind I went from a wallowing pig(stock suspension) to an actual driveable truck. You have to keep in mind how much you drive on/off road, how much extra weight you plan on carrying, tire choice for said driving and pocket book size. All these variables can help you out

This is a great lift, don't second guess yourself! My topper and sleeper system is all I normally carry and it rides like a dream! Last night I drove up Aspen Mountain (8k of vertical up and down over some very tricky stuff) with 35-40 PSI and it was flawless. If your really worried about the quality of ride go and purchase some sand bags and put them in the back. what are you running for tires?

What air pressure do you run when you are going over the wash board?

This is the third time I've asked

I ran 30psi. I'm not gonna drop pressure for a 5mi run to a trailhead. During hunting season I'll drop it. But not for a 10min run. I ran the stock shocks last weekend over similar roads for 16mi. It was awesome. The 5100's either need the lift or need some weight to ride the way people are sayin.
