Like I said, my ride is definitely stiffer, but not horrible like you describe. You need to lower your tire pressure. This seems really isolated, because 95% of people will recommend 5100s because of how nice they are for the money.

I am running the same, except with 884s and I run 16 psi offroad and have not issues.

You wasted your money. 5100's are valved identically to 4600 stock TRDOR shocks

*For those who have the soft Hitachi shocks, it's a day/night difference.

OP if you want to smoothen out your ride a bit put a bale of straw in the bed, it helps ... throw it on the garden when you need room and get another... like this:

    Hay Truck, get on it!

This is why I don't want to lift. The TRD OR suspension is nice and cushy on and off road. I don't want a STIFFER ride. I want a soft ride without excessive body roll in turns or nose dive when braking. People spend 1500-3000$ on lifts then rave about them here sometimes I wonder if it's not the same as the folks who won't admit they have issues with their 3rd gen truck because they're defensive of their expenditure

Yeah I know, I just gave him my impressions since I have an SR base. Those Hitachi's ride like Autozone specials.

Those BFG ATs are also heavier and stiffer than the stock Goodyears. Another thing I am tempted to change but hesitant. Been there done that and screwed up the ride.

I'm thinking as an overland setup. This might be the perfect setup. I'm just not that guy. My truck gets me to the trailhead. My camp is on my back. I don't want to air down to 15 psi just to get to a trailhead. I also don't want to carry 500lbs of weight to tame the ride. At this point i might just level the front with a spacer and keep the rest stock trd offroad equipt.

Suspensions need a balance front to rear. I have the same IDENTIACL lift, with 5100's 885X's, 2" AAL from Deavers, and mine rides firm but VERY much in control. I did the front first, drove a couple days before I had time to do the rear.....I was saying to myself...."What on earth have I done"? Then I installed the rear leafs and shocks. The ride suddenly became everything I expected (and more!) 5100's are valved identical to 4600 (stock TRD OR shocks) but they are NEW compared to the used shocks you were running on. Give 'em a few days to limber up a bit and the ride will get better too. After 6 months with the new lift, you couldn't talk me into changing back for love nor money....

I would give it some time, don't do a spacer lift. It's half ass work.

Only thing I would change to my lift is the rear 5100s to B110 (the extended version of the 5100). I don't have much travel even with the single Deaver AAL

I lost track thousands of dollars ago.
I have lots of suspension work done to my truck and I would not drive 10miles down a wash board road without airing down. For one it's bad for your tires to have too much air pressure off road.

Try that same road at 18 to 20psi it's night and day no matter what suspension you have on your truck.

Also, as mentioned, tire choice and inflation will make a huge difference. I'm running 265/75/16 Goodyear Duratrac load range C inflated to 34 psi front and rear. Unless I'm going to spend a LOT of time off road, I don't air down/air up that often. (Too much trouble for an old man) And I have a CO2 system that I take with me most of the time....So it isn't because I CAN'T air down....just don't always see the point.

I don't see where he's "catching heat".....He asked a question and is getting sensible, honest answers....No 2 opinions are going to be the same.

I drive in excess of 30,000 highway miles a year. If a lift made my truck ride bad, it wouldn't stay on the truck. What I did with mine, it now ride far BETTER than it did stock....

    THIS THIS THIS THIS....^^^^^^
