The LCE Performance Header arrived this morning, can't wait to get it on!!!

 

I like how thick the flange looks. Is it about 3/8"?

After buying all the parts (which I see you spent a lot from every paycheck) it might be difficult, but I still desire to ask , how much it would cost to do a dyno test @moe2o4?
It would've been so awesome and a saving grace to a lot of us here on TW if you could do a dyno test of your motor before and after the header install.
I wouldn't mind chipping in if others are game also for the test. (Not that I have any interest in buying and adding the header myself, I plan to keep my truck stock as is.)

 

That would be a good question and not too bad of a idea!!! Was considering installing it after work tomorrow...

 

Ok., please don't install yet, I know you are dying to. Please find out how much it costs, and we'll work out a plan, and i will chip in too.
So far, in the 3rd gen forum, I don't think a single taco has shown any performance improvements, despite other un-necessary mod they've all done. Not one.
If any, they've only lost more gas mileage and money. That said, I'm very curious to see if there's any gains in seen after the install in the lower rpm band.
I'm really getting annoyed w. my trucks low torque, and I'm holding off all the mods on mine and is considering trading in my taco when the new 2017 Ford Raptor releases.
The problem is this. if our trucks performed better at lower rpms with better torque and more smoother shifts and had a trans and engine that actually talked to each other, we might see fuel efficiency like most other trucks we have in todays market, 15 to 17mpg. Then everyone here would complain oh how i wish my truck gave me 25 ~ 30mpg some folks here are actually getting... especially those who bought the 4cylinder model who average 28+mpgs. So, it's an odd balance. Sacrifice torque and performance for gas mileage. Some others might sacrifice the other way around.. who knows, the raptor may even have single digit mpgs..

If your mod works, and gave a decent hp, that would be so big. It might as well be a slap in the face to Toyota. Several hundred million dollar research expenditure into TRD and some after market header gave better results. Many who has installed the K & N CAI's say they have noticeable "increase" in hp. I don't know,.. i will only believe them if I could see a dyno results, I'm a numbers guy.

 

LCE Performance has run a dyno on the truck and they told me on the phone that the header increases the hp by 15 and the torque to 10. And if you do the exhaust it's another 5% gain on top of that.

 

I just messaged my buddy and he has a dyno and I'll see what it's going to cost to get it done and let ya know. But my truck isn't stock now. I've got 265 75 16 Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs tires, a 3" lift and a afe cold air intake. But you can still see a difference between before and after I'm sure!

Ok, let see what the numbers to got say... I'm interested in seeing the dyno results in stock as well. I won't put much money into what LCE said though.. they have a vested interest in selling their products, and they know there's a hungry market for it.

 

So far so good according to many people who installed them on their trucks. @tooter put one on his and got great results and even provided a dyno chart. If you search the 4 banger forum, you can find dyno charts. A couple of 3rd gen 2.7 guys installed the header and noticed much more torque.

 

Tested out my new firestone ride rite air bags I installed paired with some dakar leaf springs and a little 4 cylinder power! Top picture is just with the Dakar leafs and the bottom is with the Dakar leafs + firestone ride rite air bags! The bags have 50 lbs. of air in them!

 

@moe2o4 just curious that wood is for burning on winter???

 

Good winter wood is Cherry, locust, oak! They are all good hardwoods for burning in the winter!

 

So I got around to installing the new LCE Performance Header today. With the stock header on the truck I was watching the torque on my ultra Gauge just to see if I notice any differences when I install the new header. So after that being said on the stock header at running temperature the torque value was averaging 17 at idle. Now with the new header at running temperature it's averaging 24.5 torque at idle. When running 2nd gear up to about 4500 rpm's then shifting the torque topped out at about 117 on the stock header and now with the new header it tops out at 131 torque at the same rpm in second! But the final test will be to get it back on the dyno sometime this week and get the real numbers!!!

 

Attachment flange being that thick tells me the header is aluminum, correct?

 

I know its not as pretty but you shouldve wrapped it in heat wrap! Cast iron exhaust manifold asorbs heat better to keep it from going in engine bay, and it has a shield. Lots and lots of sensitive electronics under that hood. Just my two cents, still loving the build. Keep it up.
