My Double Cab 2wd pre runner has 56k miles on it , not bad for a 14 yr old truck . Well the original owner had all service work exclusively done at the dealer

When I bought this truck from the original owner 4 months ago I did have my Toyota dealer check it over and do the frame recall . Now a couple days ago I got an email from the dealership saying my 60k mile service Is due and should call to make an appt

Now my truck is 4k miles shy of 60k and have only put 1620 miles on it in the 4 months I've owned it . My question is do I let the dealer perform this scheduled service Now or wait a couple months until I do have 60k miles

I do have some perf issues such a idle quality

I'll chime in here. You are really thinking of going to a dealership for 60K service on a 14 year old truck? If you had the original handbook that came with the truck, it would tell you what they would do. Most of it is pure BS! They are there to make money, and will bend over backwards to tell you it has a myriad of problems. True story: I took mine into the dealer in Austin when I got mine (216K) to get the Timing belt/water pump and all that jazz done. They did that and came back at me with "The Half Moons are leaking, needs the Valve cover gaskets replaced and needs a brake job!" Well I totally replaced my brakes and rotors and drums a week before, and I took the Advisor by the ear and wiped a rag behind every half moon to show him they were not leaking at all. He finally admitted they say that to get work. Take it to a trusted Toyota mechanic and go from there if you feel there is any problems at all. 99% you can do yourself as long as you are handy at all. Try a tune up first.

Well I'm only allowing them to perf maintenance on a few items and the can perform a safety check . I won't let them look at the brakes as I will not give them the locking lug nut key . Plus I just had the oil changed and will show them the reciept
