I have a 2001 Tacoma sr5 TRD. Started getting bad vibrations today around 55mph if I let off the gas it gets worse until I hit 50mph then it stops. But also going down hill 3rd gear doing about 25-30mph it's worse than at 55mph same thing happens on flat ground slowing down from 50 to zero. Just recently replaced the carrier bearing and axles seals. Any help on what the problem is would be appreciated

Rear axle bearings were replaced when I did axle seals. Tires were just balanced Friday but knowing the les Schwab in my town they probably screwed it up. U joints felt good. Not sure on drive shaft balance.

If the tires were just balanced, I'd take it back to the tire shop and tell them you'd like them checked.

The drive shaft needs to be completely removed to detect bad u joints, which I'm guessing are your problem.

Driveshaft. Had the exact issue on the Jeep, the driveshaft was stiff where it sleved. Not sure if yours sleves at the transfer case or the shaft itself, but that's the issue, when you're off the gas it needs to shorten a wee bit, it can't right now. Try removing it and lubing it/cleaning it up..

    Good luck.

Edit: my u-joint felt solid, no flex with screwdriver in between yokes

Check rear u-joint first, then it might be splines when you took apart the flange to install the new center support bearing.

in addition to checking u-joints, check for excess play in your carrier bearing, it should only have about 1/4" or less of wiggle/movement to it

Sweet thanks for all the info guys will get it on the lift and be tearing it apart. Further inspection of the u joints and calling the previous owner they havent been changed at all and they show that. Also i replaced the carrier bearing about a month ago and it already has as much play as my old one any reason to why it would go bad already and any certain brand you guys recommend?
