I was taking my truck off roading the other weekend when I broke it. I believe it is the cv axle that is broken. I wanted to also get an opinion on what people think.

Might not be broken but soon will be with a busted boot. Better just to change whole thing out then just the boot, because you are going to have to go through the same process to replace boot as you would cv axle. I just replaced my passenger side one this past weekend in about 2 hrs, knowing what I'm doing. This is a great how to video on youtube.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZfpP4sy8qYw

Cv boot ripped and is flinging cv grease. Need to replace your boot and add new grease.

If you hear clicking when in 4wd and turning (not on pavement.. Do this in the grass or dirt) then it's shot

This video is for a second gen. It's pretty much the same process but the lay out is a little differant....like the sway bar and tie rods are in the front among other things.

I'm changing both my CV's on Thursday. I've had 3 torn boots for about 15,000 miles or so. It's only a matter of time before I brake an axle. There's zero grease left in them. Which is kinda nice because it's no longer coming out and going all over the place.

Replace the cv with one that has a lifetime warranty, it wont be as good as OEM but you wont have to pay for another one
