Driving my Tacoma today I noticed the left (Driver's side) turn signal was blinking when not using the turn signal (Neutral position). When I activate the turn signal on the steering column by pressing down to to activate the left turn signal it works as it should. When I activate the turn signal on the steering column as if I where making a right turn, both turn signals blink as if I activated the hazards on the vehicle. When I activate the high beams by pushing the turn signal towards the dash the turns signals work as advertised. The left turn signal stops flashing when the turn signal activator on the steering column is in the neutral position. There is no lighting modifications to my vehicle. I have a viper alarm I had installed when I purchased the vehicle in 2008. Any help would be appreciated.

Could be the stalk is going bad or contact is dirty. I'm not aware of any integration with the Viper unless they tapped it for power?

Some will say "your low on Blinker fluid. Go into your Dealer & have it serviced"

Assuming the driver side signal is staying on even in the off position and the passenger side position, I would say the contact is stuck or fused together. Not sure if thats in the stalk or relay. I would start with the stalk and relay.

Update: Replaced the headlight / turn signal stalk and it fixed the problem. The part cost me $95.00 however I had to purchase it on the dealers web page and did will call. If I went into the dealership the part would have cost me $130.00. BMW is also famous for doing this. If I let the dealership preform the work they where going to charge me a $60.00 diagnostic charge that would not be applied to the repair and the cost for replacing the headlight / turn signal stalk would have been $383 (Total of $443.00). It took me just over an hour to replace the part myself.
