Which one do I trust - dipstick or manual?

Really stupid and confusing question, I know, but I've done two oil changes now and both have me scratching my head. The manual says the oil capacity for a V6 with the tow package, and changing the filter is 6.2 qts. So I drain the oil, change the filter and put in exactly 6 qts + 190 mL (or .2 qts), then warm her up, then let her sit for 5 minutes, and dipstick only reads halfway between bottom and top markers.

I've done gobs of oil changes in the past (even on my gen2) and when I've put in exactly what the manual states as capacity it always hits the top, full, mark on the dipstick.

So, can anyone advise if should I just call it good knowing I filled per spec, or add about a half qt more to get to the top marker? It probably isn't very significant either way, but makes me think the dipstick and manual don't jive.

Also to bitch a little, this 0 weight oil when clean is a PAIN to read on the dipstick. It's so watery it seems like it runs down the dipstick even before it's pulled out.

    Thanks for the help!

Estimate based on manual. Add until stick shows full would be my approach. New filter also eats up maybe 1/2 quart don't forget

A member told me he takes the dipstick out for 10 minutes then puts it back in to check his oil. I guess without the dipstick in the tube the oil runs down instead of sitting on the dipstick in the tube. I thought about putting a quart or 2 of Royal Purple in mine to add a little color to the oil when I have it changed.

Also the tech told me he uses a flashlight to see the oil level on the dipstick.
