Do you need to know, or care?
Probably noticing the injector cleaning cycle when at idle. It feels a little rough and sounds like a diesel.

Do you have a Gen 3, or did you do an engine/tranny swap? Or are you in need of an upgrade to your profile?

Yes. Mine will occasionally drop to 500 rpm at idle for brief moments. Sounds like shot when it does it.

When it's cold and I'm driving.. I take it easy for a few blocks until the engine gets going a bit. I always baby it for say 1/2 mile and the truck sometimes idles rough and sometimes sputters, after a brief warm up she purrs like a cat!

I also noticed this usually after fueling or returning back to the truck after going into a store for a bit. Never when cold. It stumbles and briefly drops to 500rpm then picks right back up. I usually notice it once each time I am out and about.
    I presumed this is normal.
