You can't have cables installed with this? My dads tundra has tailgate assist and cables and so does my friends 2016 Tacoma.

I'm interested but only if I can keep the cables. I always stand on my tailgate or have heavy stuff on there. Do u have a pic of it installed or link to where you bought it so I can check?

There are ways to reduce the binding:

What's the difference between this and the kits that are about $20 new?
    Is this OEM Toyota?

Bed rug, ARE bed top, Weathertechs. Little goodies here and there!
I put a zip tie on the shock portion. Forces the cable to the outside upon closure. Works like a champ.

However, looking into doing @tomwil idea of the brackets when I finally acquire a tailgate plate from Mobtown.. I want the reinforcement in place 1st

So many things I want to do...

When placed, be sure it's tight so it doesn't rotate. Eventually the cable will form to where it needs to go, however, I just left the zip tie so don't have to ever worry about it. Doesnt hurt anything there anyway. Haven't had an issue since installed
