how have you formatted the USB drive? Based on the technology in this truck, you may need it running window 98 when you format it. Do you have music in separate folders or all on the root drive of the USB?

Good question. I may try to place my music files in the root directory. And u believe it was formatted on a win 7 machine. I'll try those steps and hopefully that will remedy the issue.

Is it android? Only Apple stuff is supported.
It has to be a fat32 partition. Folders don't matter although according to the manual x numbers of folders are supported. Also certain files are supported, including mp3 which I assume is the type of file you have since its kind of the standard

It's a Motorola so no. That is weird Toyota only made it compatible with iphones considering more people are on android, strange. The format for my sub thumbdrive is fat32. I placed the MP3 files on the root drive and will see if this makes a difference or not.

Yes but I may just end up completely reformatting it and seeing if that solves it. And you're sure android is not supported via USB on the 16s?

Has anyone figured that some usb connections aren't designed for charging? I have a GROM audio adapter in my car that has 2 usb connections with aux & ipod connections but 1 usb is for charging and the other is just input to feed music into. The charging one doesn't accept music feed either. Maybe something like that could be the issue? I put a small red ziptie around the charging one's wire to know which is which without wasting time trying both.

Formatted the uab thumb drive to fat32 and the entune sound system immediately recognized the device and played the files. Still no luck getting it to recognize my android smartphone.

Glad the flash drive is working for you. But get the manual open it and read it. It literally tells you everything about the car. It even lists all the decided supported and android is not on there. You're never going to have luck getting it to work because the capability is not there.

You're right I honestly just need to read the manual, tacomaworld has in a sense replaced the owner's manual. But still people shouldn't be lazy, I'm guilty of it myself.

I use Android and if I want to play music off the phone, I just use BT, But I have a 32GB flash drive filled with the same music as well as an iPod Classic and Touch neither of which I use in the truck. I used the Sandisk 32GB out of the box, It's USB 3.0 Not sure of the formatting as I did not format it,

Voice control will play any artist on that drive, So there is no reason to connect the Android via USB. I just leave it in the QI cubby and play off the mini USB drive, If I want to fast charge the S6 I use a USB adapter in the console.

thats actually one of my upcoming projects, adding QI. then it's just a matter of throwing your phone in the cubby and enjoying the drive

I'm in the same boat. Will try charging with the phone off next time. I added an a/c outlet in my center console so for now I'm using that.

Would be nice to find an upgraded unit that has aux in (although I don't use it since I have bluetooth).

This one looks pretty decent: http://www.aironboard.com/online/power-outlet-900s-12v-dual-usb-charger-for-toyota-vehicles.html

    Output Volt: 5V 3.1A x 2

You would lose the aux input and ability to play from the phone via usb (maybe flash drives work too).

I have the note 5 and I'll tell you the Qi charger does not work very well simply because the size of the battery. The USB is also worthless. If you want a quick charge you have to go old school and use the cigarette lighter (12v) style plug.

10-4. I figured that is the easiest way. I don't use the aux port and the sub port is useless... I may just pull it out leaving the wiring back there in case I get rid of the truck. Would free up a spot for another switch.

I ordered the Qukey CC-S1. I found some others that are just as nice if not better but they don't sit flush.

This one is supposed to be nice:
