Yeah even after the leafs were broken in, riding around unloaded was killer. But i did get like 4-5" of lift

 

I literally grabbed a home depot cheapo storage box and filled it with rocks and sand from out in the desert and then strapped it down in the bed. I zip tied the cover down and even wrote "rocks and dirt" on the top but every other week Id come out to find the lid pried up and a strap or two cut. That's what i got for living in a not so pleasant area.

The expos may be a bit different 1st to 2nd gen, most I ever got was about 3.5" of lift. They do ride better with a little weight but they don't deflect that much, these pics are unloaded bed vs, tool box, bed rack, rotopax and spare tire probably 400lbs+ IMO they were a great spring and I never found the empty ride to be that rough, maybe that's because I expect it to ride like a truck though and not a car.

After thought; don't the 2nd gens have a composite bed? Ours are still steel, plus Ferny is DC so his springs will share some of the load of the cab, plus his tool box and rear bumper. That setup will be primo!

 

Initial measurements showed about 5" of lift when I first installed mine unloaded, after they settled and I had the box of rocks it was about 3.5" of lift, once I unloaded I would say it was a little over 4" of lift. With a tool box and bumper that could help settle out the ride a bit. Compared to stock leafs they were pretty rough lol. The one time they really rode like butter was when I put about 500# of sand bags and paving stones in the back for my in laws lol.

Other than that, yeah they are great leafs! When combined with a longer shock you can get some great flex out of them!

Im putting my kings on this weekend. then ill be one of the cool kids. Ive had the dakars and expos. They both ride about the same. The expos seem to be more flexy because its a bunch of tiny leafs.

 

And I picked up my rebuilt driveshaft from Blake last night and stopped by codys to check out Jimmy's truck. The detail on that thing is awesome.

 

I got some freebies if anyone is interested. Nothing huge, i have a long bed sleeping/storage platform and a rear seat delete platform for the Access cab.
