Just want to thank you again EDDO for showing me this. You have no idea how bad I have always wanted this option. A little expensive (right around $80) but worth it to me!!!

    Thanks again

Edit: and meant to say "parts ordered up and on the way"

:hattip: to you, sir. I now have done both of your lighting mods. Thank you for doing the legwork and providing us with a fabulous option for better lighting. True to most of what I also happen to like, this is stock-looking, only much, much better when it counts.

    The prep done:

    Nothing to see here:

    Never heard of Flösser, either.

I like the stock look as well, and your near stock looking US off-road bumper. It is on my list. The headlight upgrade, plus the fog light upgrade, plus the LED pods on that bumper must put some serious light down range.

The combination with your headlight mod, the cubes and then-stock fogs worked really well on an off road night run we did a couple of weeks ago. Don't want ditch lights or a light bar on my daily driver, so this is it. Plus, I have the benefit of improved lighting on-road.

Would the harness upgrade for the fog light to LED or lower wattage light bulb give me a better output than stock plus 50%. I don't need 100% more output and being in a hotter area I don't want to compromise the plastic.

The LED is 20 to 30% more, but what is the power consumption. Will the harness upgrade give more than 30% say 40 to 50% for LED?

There's the 90W flosser, but is there a lower flosser H11 ...want less power consumption and heat, but still give me from 30% to 50% than stock? I have regular cab so alternator is weaker than other, but I have sound system and other things in the future...will upgrade the alternator but still want to efficient with my power use. Thanks!

Stock regular cab I don't have any fogs at all...will have to run a harness anyways...I bought a whole aftermarket kit (new) from someone local.

LED's tend to use 4-6X less power than Halogens for the same amount of light. for instance, I have household LED bulbs that are 14W and are as bright as a 100W incandescent.

they also tend to be much less sensitive to voltage drop, and beause they are less current there's less voltage drop to start with. for example, a 55W H3 foglamp will use about 4 amps at 13.6V, and at 4 amps, the wiring might just be dropping 0.6 V from the 14.2V at the battery, hence the 13.6V at the lamp. Incandescent (including Halogen) bulbs are VERY sensitive to voltage, the brightness is proportional to the 3rd power of the voltage. An LED that puts out the same lumens as that 55W H3 is probably only 9 W, so at 14V will be drawing only 0.6 amps.

I believe the XB LEDs are 27w vs the stock 55w H11 bulbs. As mentioned above you are not going to see the gains using a standalone harness with LEDs, especially since the XB LEDs are so much lower draw the stock harness is is already 'over built' for that purpose. So it would not be worth running the HD harness if you are going the LED route.

Heat is an understandable concern in hotter climates. There are other lower wattage bulbs that are still more powerful than stock. One of the things I really wanted was a non-tinted bulb, which really limited the already slim available H11 options.

Some alternatives to the 90w Flosser:
    Flosser 70w, 5k super white
    Hella Optilux 80w 4k bulbs

I like the idea of yellower fogs over 'super white' for actual fog use. 1200 lumens is equivalent to the XB fogs.
    Hella Optilux 55w yellow bulbs

Osram Nightbreakers are I think one of the best bulbs at stock wattage. Rated at 1350 lumens, they are also higher output than the XB LEDs for comparison.

Even stock wattage (55w) bulbs will see an output performance increase running the HD standalone foglight harness due to reduced voltage drop.

Are those yellow hella optilux a direct replacement for the fog lights?

Yes, they are a direct replacement, same wattage as stock with more light output than the OEM bulbs. The harness is not needed to run them.

    CnB80,
Great work here on both threads, Thank You.
I've sent an email to the fellows at Rally Lights asking about availability of both sets of harnesses.
Do you know if they have decided to stock the connectors for the Fog Lamp harness that you had to drop ship to them?
Or if they still have some of yours on hand?
    Cheers,
    TjB

As of July 6 (when I placed my order) they still weren't stocking the trigger connector:
If that hasn't changed, you can buy your own and do a little solder/heatshrink job. I have a spare connector and a soldering iron if you are local.

Both harnesses should be available, however the fog light harness will not have the stock connector, all the ones I provided were already used. You can purchase your own connector and ship it there to be added to the harness if you make arrangements in advance, or do as other have done and add it yourself once you get the fog light harness. I purchased my H11 connectors off eBay, as that was the only place I could find to buy a handful vs by the 100s.

If you have followed the headlight thread, note there is a new bulb just released that is 2900 lumens vs the previous 2400 lumens. Details in the headlight thread.

    Thanks Man,
I'm holding off on the bulb purchase until I have the harnesses in hand.
Have you tried out the higher lumens bulb?
(Or perhaps I can just click the link and see for myself?!?)

Ordered them but haven't tried them out yet. I'll update the other thread when I do.

So I just got off the phone with Ray @ Rally Lights and he is now making these and the headlight harness up as one combined harness.
I have one on order, and have ordered the H-11 plug, drop shipped to him.
Seemed like an awfully nice fellow,
I look forward to getting this all hooked up.
    Thanks again CnB80.

It is certainly possible to build a combined harness. I've actually done that on other vehicles that didn't have stock fogs rather than wiring them in. However if you do that you will likely have to do some custom wiring to integrate with the OEM fog switch, or use their aftermarket fog switch, as the harness is not going to plug into the factory switch.

    Good catch,
No interest in me doing that, I am looking for the easiest plug and play I can.
    I'll call him back now...
    Thanks,
