I know how it feels. When I first started off roading everyone was running cb, when I finally get the cb setup (big thanks again to @sladesdaddy1022 @WileECoyote), everyone switches to HAM :frusty:

Nick and Rynoman, get the 8W radios!!! You WILL do yourself a HUGE favor in doing so. I do NOT have the software to "open" the channels up though!!! @dtaco06 Danny, where did you get the software/radio cable and how much was the software package in general? Thanks Danny.

    Now you say that
That's so expensive :goingcrazy::goingcrazy::goingcrazy:. What about those other ones? Are they good for the price? I know they have more than enough range to keep in touch when moving through the trail in a group

so ham has a better range??? and it needs software to open up channels? does ham also require you to mount antennas on the truck?

Hahahah just poking ya a little bit, you know I appreciate everything you did :hattip:
Yaaa Hams do have better range, & they can be a bit complicated to setup. When I borrowed one I just let someone else choose the channel & punched it in :D

I think I stick with the 155 range since I did the weatherman mod on mine but mine isn't a hand held and I have about a 30 mile range

Does NOT require for you to run an antenna... HOWEVER, you will be doing yourself a very HUGE favor if you do!!! You will be TX'ing more "efficiently" for sure. TX'ing inside your trucks cab is like your chick crying out for help while you slap the shi- out of her in your concrete basement, if you get my meaning??? Your RF signal is GREATLY reduced when TX'ing from within the cab/shell of your vehicle. BUT, with all that said, just as long as your group is within, maybe a few hundred feet, then you should be fine still.

I know you already know John, as this message is for others, the range also depends GREATLY on the wattage OUPUT of your radio!!!
