I didn't cover my light bar or my pods for safety last year, I was shetin the whole time scared to fail.

 

I kind of miss sliding an extra 20 and being done with it.

 

I think accessory lights needs to be covered if it's a above a certain height.

Here's the PDF for the manual the safety inspectors are supposed to use.

 

The technical spec is no functioning lights (except DOT clearance lights) above 54". If you cover the lights with a solid light blocking cover then it's not a functional light. The problem they give you for LED bulbs is that they aren't DOT approved. Some sylvania LEDs are supposed to be DOT so you could try and argue, but the RECON inspectors just work from a manual so they don't know shit.

The last time my truck was inspected at RECON they passed the retrofits for the third time, they passed Amber duallys coming on with the high beams, and Rigid A-series lights on the trailer hitch coming on with the reverse lights.

But they made me take the stickers off the rear window, even though they were blocked by a headrest. I told the guy that the RECON book and even the Hawaii Revised Statutes specifically say that trucks and vans are exempt so it isn't right to make me take them off. They said some people with tuner cars complained to HNN that it was unfair so RECON was instructed by Hawaii DOT that no stickers on windows should pass unless it was a commercial vehicle. Again, they just do what their instruction book says, no matter if the book is legally right or not.

If there is ever some sort of legal action against the C&C for violation of HRS or civil liberties (on other issues) I'll be right there with you guys signing up as a witness/complainant! I'm not afraid to say it... The new gun laws signed in by our incompetent governor are unconstitutional! Plain and simple!

 

They told me it's not stock so no even if its better and safer. Hence all new cars are using them.

Yeah, but how are they going to test for either? There were already noise/muffler laws in place for vehicles, motorcycles, and mopeds already, just that they had no one enforcing them. Just another silly thing due to a combination of crybabies and irritating moped riders. Mine is pretty civilized. Braaap past the police staion every day!

 

So silly yeah? You can put double layer of 5% tint, but no sticker outside.

 

Last year my suv I had a 3 by 4 in Gadsden flag an a NRA sticker in my back window and they didn't make me remove it.

 

The noise law is basically "officer discretion" because the state wasn't want to set a time period and spend the money on db meters and training... So you could technically get a ticket for stock exhaust noise if they wanted.. Only laws that have specific guidelines are barking dogs, crying babies, and car alarms

 

I was salty and read through that when I got home

and there's nothing about having a 3rd tail light unobscured by tint so as to be seen in space

 

Bring it up to the inspector and see

I just went last month to get safety in my CRV. Sticker in the left bottom rear corner... Passed.....

gotta see how much you can actually see though...

 

yeah

technically, all non-stock lighting is illegal

so even though our retrofits have exponentially better throw, output and have a safer cutoff, they're illegal
and our non-halogen bulbs, which run cooler and use less energy and are brighter, are also illegal

they said if you can see it at all it's a fail....
