Recently, I went from a from a 16 inch wheel to a 17 inch wheel with 265/70/17 tires. I told the guys at Discount Tire that I didn't want anything to rub. They said my mudflap might be a problem so I took it off. When in reverse something else still rubs. I'm taking it back to Discount Tire tomorrow as I understand they have a really good return policy and customer service -at least I hope so. What size tires should I go down to?

I relied on them to fit the tire to the truck but perhaps I should have done a better job on research myself.

My new tires are Cooper Discovery ATP if that matters.

That's odd, as that size of tire should clear no problem (as a general rule). Only thing I can think of it's related to the wheel/rim specs. What are they?

I don't know the wheel size other than 17 inch. I'm pretty ignorant about this stuff.

Do you still have those tiny little mudflaps on it on the front?

I put the ATP's on my truck from Discount. 265/75 16. Have my flaps and only slightly rub on full lock.

Yes on the tiny front mud flap. Do you think it needs to go?

Considering this is only a 31.6" tire you shouldn't be having rubbing issues.

You might need to look at your alignment and make sure your caster is right (or move it forward).

I had 265/75/16 (also a 31.5" tire) and never had rubbing issues with mud flaps on. And that was prior to lifting the truck.

It is your new wheels. The offset is pushing the wheels out more and causing the rub. That size should fit, it is not discount tires fault, it was your wheel choice or alignment as stated already.
