I dont own the V6, but test drove 4 of em. All had the vibes. Primary reason I didnt buy one. First one was a TRD 2 WD A/cab with most the bells and whistles . The sales guy pulls it around, leaves it running, and I put my hands on the side to peek in the bed before getting in to drive, and I could feel a vibration even then, on the side of the bed at idle. I swear. And I knew nothing of this issue at that point, thought, well the engine is just cold or something. The other three only shook when moving. I just have a feeling its gottta be a mechanical thing with the engine/engine mounts, flywheel/counter-balancer...something like that.
The sales guy and his manager, that day, acted like they'd never heard of this vibration thing....have to call BS on that.

I think plain and simple it is inadequate damping of an engine/exhaust harmonic through the isolators (be it engine mount, exhaust mount). It could also be coupled with a resonance frequency of part of the cabin. Pay close attention next time a Harley comes up beside you on the highway. It makes my floorpan buzz in the same way.

I think it was either entirely overlooked through the development or deemed not an crucial issue to work out right away (if even considered an issue at all).

I have come to terms with the fact that it probably truly is a characteristic of the 2016's. I'll keep the tacoma through it...but I'll silently see what ford has to offer with the new ranger.....

Those are tuned dampers specific to each exhaust. They need to be welded on at certain positions (most likely max displacement during resonance) and be designed to "absorb" the resonance frequency. I assume it would be extremely tough to guess and check it. Granted, I don't analyze or design tuned dampers at my job.

I would be very very surprised if your truck is 100% free of the vibration. But seriously, if you don't notice it, just stop right there and don't think anything of it. Once you notice it it can be fairly annoying.

The first time I drove a 2016 Tacoma I didn't notice the vibration. After reading about it I was able to feel it on all the 2016 I test drove. 6 or so. However I test drove 1 this weekend and kept it in the rpm range as much as possible. It was almost impossible to feel the vibration. I'm not sure if the have finally done something to lessen the vibration or what. Anyone else drive one lately notice a difference?

Uh oh. Better ask them why it doesn't have the vibe and see if they could add it as its characteristic of the engine!

Anyone by chance get the new transmission TSB and also has the buzzing issue?

Wanted to see if you noticed any difference in the vibrations before/after the TSB update. I'm guessing there wasn't any but can always hope :fingerscrossed:
