Heck with this thread my vision of Toyota FJ style factory flooring might become a reality...

Reason I haven't thus far is that the flooring was not available when the Utility Package came out so there would be odd places for rear seat components and such exposed in my truck. BUT if I go ahead and swap the flooring and then build my platform I can change the platform to cover thast and but up against the back wall and you would never see it. Saweettt!

Loud. Very loud. Mainly exhaust noise.

I had my panel off for a while for an unrelated project. I immediately put it back. I'm going to be replacing the cover with a utility rack, but I'm definitely going to get some sort of sound deadening in there.

Ah, thanks for the reminder. Dynomat or the like may be in my future also.

Steps... From what I remember, the factory steps don't stick out very far. Mine are 5" nerfs, helps prevent door dings as long as you don't park next to a jacked up mofo.

I may try something like that,

    Price is awesome!

I assume they bolted up with no drilling?

Yep, 20 minutes. Solid as hell as long as you're not rock crawling. I'm 225, no prob with flex or anything. Couple hundred bucks if memory serves.

    Well well well,

Yes there is a LOT of road noise coming through just the back wall, I figured it would be but wow.

I went by the dealer today to look through some used DCs. I was scoping out the black behind rear seat organizers,
I found out that some of the smaller bolt holes do line up with what I have in the back of my truck. Not sure about the plastic white clips that just push in and kind of snap in place.

I did make a little progress before the rain and darkness set in and through a process of using bolt heads and grease, mark where I needed to drill a half inch hole and get the bolt through to what are 4 spaced welded in nuts. I am not sure what they are used for ion the AC with rear seats. But they are solid. I only got one done so far...

I took a pic of the bolt I used to see the length. I am not sure what I am looking for but I plan on maybe a 3/4 or 1" rubber grommet and then a nice round head coming out so I have a way to secure something to it. I am not looking to secure heavy items but I imagine a nice elastic type net from the two center most would be an awesome place to throw a rain coat or extra layer, Think Land Cruiser or 4runner "Attic" but mounted to the back wall.

I dove even further in after the rain let up and the sun tried to come back out.

This is a pic of all 10 bolts removed from the cross section back there. Turns out the two largest center silver ones must be the seat belt buckle bolts as they have light coming through the holes hence they are nuts on the frame or something. I reinstalled them, and the two lower outer bolts as well. I have a meeting in the morning so I'll see if any others leak air and put the nuts back in. I'll hopefully use some nice counter sunk flanged bolts of sorts where those two seat belt buckle bolts are...

This is the item I wanted to remove. It does have the back part of the clip holes for the actual plastic tray in it but when I'm finished it won't matter. I could also just put it back in. I'm going to get my measurements and try it installed as well. I mean if anything it may help support the outer edges of the platform.

Now we are talking, the highest point is that back center section which will probably be where I secure the center back part of my shelf or platform. This is going to look sweet, I want it to just sit level or slightly canted rear just a touch and run from both sides to the back of the seats. I'm still working on how that will be devised as I may try and run the center of it a little closer to the console back and keep it behind the seats themselves. I in no way want to limit how far back the seats recline. AC seats recline further than DC seats do.

I want to keep the factory plastic tray segment. Which is fine by me. I'll just have to make a simple yet strong door option into each one. No big deal.

Just grabbed a small piece of cardboard to get an idea of the size of a nice platform back there, I also see I may try and cut some nice curved sides into the unit to align good with the sides of the AC doors.

When I have more time this week I'll make a full size template and see what size this thing is going to be. What kind of wood would you guys recommend. I was thinking MDF but I may be way off. Also what thickness?
I plan on just using legs to keep the outer portions in place but will tie the lower portions of the legs into the front seat rear mount bolts I think. I want to be sure it's never going to move after I install it. Also it may allow me a type of container slide in and out with my existing little Hefty tubs.

Then I found this link and was like, Dear Lord Yes! I need some of those on this platform to secure two pieces of luggage and our cooler on trips....

I was in the position today to have both a DCSB and my AC under my carport, decided to pop my back panel off of my utility cab truck and see if the storage compartments that are in the back of the double cab switch in, it's a no-go ladies and gentlemen, not even close. Even after I tried removing the storage box lid it doesn't sit down far enough to engage the brace rib that has the welded nuts in it.

    Just FYI...

Like you truck , I ordered the same thing but you can't get the convenience package and the utility package together anymore. I'll have to add the keyless entry etc. afterwards

    Thanks bud,

That stinks man. Guess an aftermarket keyless entry is in your future potentially.

If the wife and I weren't trying to start a family Id probably trade into a 2017 AC SR5 to get a V-6 and the MID in the dash.

If anyone is contemplating removing the jump seats , shoulder harnesses and seat
belts, the bolts securing the buckles to the floorboard are 7/16-20. I have pulled
out the entire back area and sound deadened the back wall, rear posts and doors
with a layer of RAAMMat, a layer of Ensolite and a layer of EzCool. I am now building
a platform for our Min-pin and want to secure the platform using the seat belt anchors.
M10x1.25 are too small and M12X1.25 are too big and have been looking for m11x1.25
to try. In my research I learned that the 7/16-20 bolt is a perfect fit. So, tomorrow we
start gluing the carpet to the platform. I am using piano hinges to give me access to the
storage areas under the platform deck.

I removed the rear seats, head rests and child restraints etc. several months ago but I did not go into the side panels to remove the seat belts because I saw that there is an air bag at the top, please explain how you went about removing the seat belts on each side, thanks.

Pics help if you can also.

Trust me I'm leaning towards an AC because I love the rear doors and the 6' bed, lol...

If anyone wants to sell their 09 and up jump seats I'm interested. I want to change my 05 to those seats.

Lol... What color is your interior?

If I was keeping my current AC I'd rather have your back seat lower sections. Since they fold forward and make a flat "platform" back there.
