saIMG_1260.jpg IMG_1254.jpg IMG_1273.jpg Love my Taco now that its lifted. I went with a 3/2 Ready lift kit and 275/65r20s / slight rub on body mount. Is there any way to get a little more lift out of the front? I was told the heavier duty OME coil over would give the front end less "slap" when hitting the breaks.Would it keep it at the top of the lift also? And it only rubs at low speed turns. I trimmed the fender flare tonight hoping it will help solve some of this. I don't off road any. Just enjoy a good looking truck. Thanks for any help.

Is there anyway to get more lift out of the front based on what your currently running? No.
You could however run a 1/4" spacer on top of the OME shock & coil you mentioned, which would give you an increase over what your currently running. Not sure if it would completely solve your issue though.

You should also check to see what your front caster is set at. Good chance you can get your lower control arms pushed forward enough to give you a little more clearance (I'm set at 2.9-3). Your going to be looking at a new set of upper control arms to get there though.

No one knows what these dimensions are?

To reiterate/better specify. I'm looking for the dimensions for proper shock fitment. Typically the collapsed and extended dims are measured from eye (lower through-bolt) to shock perch (where the top of the shock mounts). You need to remove the shocks to get the proper dimensions, otherwise they may limit the range (flex).

Perhaps, I need to take these dimensions myself? Surely someone knows what these dimensions are.

Also, how will add a leafs change these numbers? I'm pretty sure that you are required to remove the factory overload spring to install progressive add a leafs, which may impact how far the suspension is able to compress/tuck.

I don't believe any shock manufacturer has taken the time to complete the research you are looking for. Or if they have, they are not releasing the information to the public sort of like how shock manufacturers have a tendency to keep valving specs a secret.

More likely what has happened is there has been testing of "off the shelf" model numbers of shocks, they have been found to work just fine, and so they are now marketed for re 3rd gen which will suit 95% of the marketplace.

You are probably going to have to take on the challenge and research for yourself. I would be curious to see what you find out. Let us know.

Thanks Steady Hawkin, After doing some digging around this site, I am thinking that my only solution for this issue is to trim the body mount and weld a plate over it to bring it back to spec. I honestly don't want a taller rig and for sure don't want it nose up. After riding around today 90% of my issue is gone with just trimming the fender flare. It still hits the body mount but not enough it will hurt the tire. I am also looking at UCA's just to help with the alignment and also the OME coil over.

After a little more digging around. I came across some info that applies to the 2G tacomas, but it's probably fair to assume that this can apply to 3G as well.

~16" collapsed and ~24" extended. I believe these dimensions were taken with 2" blocks. The upper shock mount appears to be a limiting factor, as it does not allow for maximum up travel.

    Here's the link:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/rear-shock-length.246961/

Now, I need to find the same information for the front. I may still end up taking my own dimensions

I'm in the same boat just installed ome nitrochargers w 888 coils and dakar in the rear. I put on 255/80/17 cooper Maxx got my allignment and set caster to 3.0 and I still rub on my cab mount. I don't understand why bc other guys have 16s w the same setup and no rub. I rub at full turn and over bumps forget about offroading. I ordered the plates to chop and weld hoping this gives me a lot more room

If they are running 255/80/16's their tire is 1/2" smaller compared to your 255/80/17.

Ok, so I've been reading and searching the 3rd gen forum for a few days now, trying to wrap my head around all the different options at my disposal for a lift.... There's so much information it's kind of daunting.

To start, I have a TRD Off-road, DC SB, 4x4.

I was originally just going to go with a easy level w/ Bilstein 5100's in the front set to .85 and add a set of SumoSprings to the rear, b/c 1) I understand they add about 5/8" of lift to the rear, and 2) when I tow my trailer w/ my Ranger, it will give that much more support.

As of late, I've been thinking about screwing with my simple plan, and was wondering if something like this would work:

1" factory rake from back to front (correct?)

Bilstein 5100's (set to 0") w/ OME 885 springs = 1.5" front end lift (more/less), accordingly to headstrong

SumoSprings added to rear for 1/2" lift (more/less)

Equals level truck???? Is this correct? Or more or less level truck I should say... Just trying to avoid any bro lean. Do I still need to get a progressive AAL?
Goes without saying the 887 or 888 springs would definitely require a AAL, just wondering about the above scenario.

Do you get a higher lift with a 885 spring & 5100's set to 0", as opposed to factory TRD OR springs w/ 5100's set to .85"? Or it is essentially a wash, and I should save $175, and not worry about OME springs?

Sorry for all the questions, just trying to narrow down some specifics so I know what parts I need to order. Thanks for your help and insight

I think the secret is getting the full 3 inch out of the lift. At 2 1/2, it rubbed. At closer to 3 with an alignment, all is good with no rubbing at all. I have LR UCA's too.

Had the installers adjust the coils. They come set at 2 1/2. Use the wrench and make the adjustment.
