    Hey guys,

I just searched on Google the tow capabilities for a 2016 Toyota Tacoma TRD OR with the 6 speed manual. The results showed a horrid 3500lbs. Does anyone have this configuration with the tow package to bump the specs up to 6500lbs? I know you can get the tow package with the automatic transmission, but how about on the manual?

Does a manual trans need a transmission cooler when towing?

3500lbs just seems horrible with a v6 under the hood.

    Thanks!

The tow package with the v6 manual is 6500 or 6800 one of the two. The trans cooler was only an option on the auto.

See the specs and options in the brochure. Should answer those questions nicely. Especially the towing section.

Awesome, thank you for the link.

I guess a manual transmission doesn't need a transmission cooler to tow!

maybe i'm missing something here but i didn't know tranny coolers were even offered on manuels? they're either set up for towing or not internally (fluid viscosity and design).

They're not. You can install an aftermarket one though.

The tow capacity for a manual is 6500#s with tow package and 6800#s for the auto with tow package.

I'm not even sure how a transmission cooler would work for a manual lol..

manuals cool themselves, the fluid absorbed heat, gets splashed around by splash rings, the transmission case dissipates the heat and air moving under the vehicle helps cool. lol

Typically with a fluid pump (often electric) that pumps the gear oil out to a cooler. They're quite rare.
