Anyone heard of the front Toyota E-locker on a 2004 Tacoma before?? My friend swears his dad's 2004 Tacoma comes equipped with both front and rear e-locker. I never heard of it before, thought you guys with the first gens might have an answer. It was $30k when they bought the truck brand new from the dealership back in 04'. At least that part is legit.

    A few bolts are different.
your friend is not being truthful. The only vehicle to come factory with a front E-Locker is the FZJ-80 land cruiser.

Does the front e-locker come as an optional for the FJ's?? I thought I heard that from somebody. I've never heard of the front e-locker on the first gen tacoma before. I'll have to go take a look at it.

Not an option on any Toyota vehicle in the front as of 1998. 1998 is when the 80 series Land Cruiser upgraded to a new model, 100 series, lost the solid front axle and the front E-Lock option i believe.

Australian made ARB air lockers are added aftermarket to the front of Tacomas... I think HB Murphy has one on his '09... ? (if not ARB, then some other selectable front locker)

Who makes an electric one??? Not really looking to deal with the ARB. I Don't want to put a pump in, or air tank.

Far as I know, the only ToMoCo vehicles with front lockers are the 80 series LCs and their platform mate Lexus LX450. And even then, those were an option package.

You don't need a tank. The basic compressor is pretty cheap...and ARB stuff is absolutely bulletproof in my experience.

Down here in AU I went to an ARB store and looked at a model cutaway air locker with a compressor. You could see the inside and how it worked. Pretty simple and effective.

You could always just put a lunchbox locker in I guess though.

So eaton locker is not an option. Get ahold of East Coast Gear Supply. They will have the answer and most likely the parts in stock for you.

I believe there was a thread on here a while back on a front e-locker, but pricey!

sure, have enough money? :D would require making a custom front diff that uses a toyota 8" setup and a whole bunch of more custom parts, but sure it can be done :D

There is an e-locker that will work in the front end of these trucks, it's called Harrop (?) and they're an Australian company that makes e-lockers for the Hilux trucks. IIRC they have the same front diff as ours but there are some modifications that have to be done to make it work. Search 'front e-locker' or 'harrop' using the search feature and you'll find a few threads on it.
