    ...we'll get there.
I've been lurking on the site since I got my taco about a month ago. The forums and your guys' posts have already made owning my truck a great experience. I expect to keep learning from you guys and to be able to contribute wherever I can.

I bought a 2002 Tacoma Xtracab with 192k on the clock when I got it. I bike to work every day, so I've carved out weekends the rest of the summer to do all of my new-to-me-car projects.

    So far I've:

    • Replaced brake rotors and pads (forum help)
    • Torn apart the dash to replace speedo and tach lights, as well as ac lights (forum help)
    • Pulled out driver and passenger seats to make moving around easier, and to give me space for cleaning
    • Ordered Wet Okole seat covers, should arrive early August (with recommendations from forum)
    • Gotten seat heaters ready - it gets cold in Milwaukee
    • Ordered Moog inner and outer tie rods - one boot was totally ripped apart, so I figured I'd replace them all and have the peace of mind
    • Power scrubbed the carpet for the first time in the life of the truck
    • Removed the mummified mouse that made the whole dash shake when the blower was on (forum help)
    • Fixed the driver's side xtracab window latch (forum help)
I'll be doing a timing belt replacement soon, and reinstalling the seats after i get the heaters wired up and the Wet Okole covers on. My AC compressor doesn't have a belt running to it, the previous owner said he never really used the AC, and noticed about 6 months ago that the belt was gone. ...that gives me some hope the compressor is still good and that it was just a broken belt on a rarely used component. If I need to replace the compressor, I'd like to do that while I'm doing the timing belt - we'll see what I do there.

After those things, it's on to the aftermarket fun. I'm looking to add a front bumper with stronger recovery points and a mount for a winch. I'd like to add some light up front but not go too overboard. Rock sliders would be nice, but aren't a huge priority at the moment.

...oh, and i need to replace the glass door on the topper the truck came with...it doesn't have one. If anyone knows where a guy can find a cheap replacement door for a A.R.E. CX cap, let me know.

thanks for all the help so far!

Welcome aboard. I would also change all the fluids (tranny, diffs, brake, etc). Good luck!
