Good for you going RC! Shouldn't be too hard to find a good one, with the majority of all RC 4x4's for sale on the east coast. Happy Hunting!

    If I wasn't 6'4" I would have kept my 2013 RC AT 4x4.

That being said I love my AC 4-cyl...

Good call going with a RC. My buddy has a 2013 4 door 4X4 TRD Sport. While hitting the trails, I follow him and he receives natural pinstripes where I do not due to the vehicle size difference.

Here is mine prior to the SAS:

MA resident with a 2010 regular cab 2 wheel. Love it. My truck prior was also a single (06 Colorado).

Married guy with no kids. It's all I need. I got mine with 6k on it for 17000.

Just hauled a half ton of plywood 30 minutes with no issues so it can move stuff.

Bought with 6500 or 6600 miles (I forget but I can look at the trip odometer haha) in October 2012. 60K now. No issues. I did a couple of convenience mods like delay wipers, step bars, and such..and a few of my own like lights and stereo.

    Thanks.
The rack is a Trac Rac with the cantilever extension. I ended up cutting a little more than 3 inches off the uprights to give it a tighter fit over the roof. I thought it originally looked like a set of moose antlers with it
sticking up in the air. I then painted it with black bumper and trim paint so it would look more at home against the white paint.

2nd time posting the same remarks... Nice truck you have there. Hopefully this post won't be deleted again.

I would never go back. I'm 6'4" and there is plenty of space in there for me to comfortably shift gears. Plus if the dogs feeling spoiled all 100 pounds of him shares the bench with me and the wife stays at home :headbang:

Thanks so much, @Ritchie, but yours is one of the finest single cabs in the known universe. Any progress on the SAS?

    Thanks for the compliment.

Still fiddling around with the small stuff now. Will have new CO's & rear shocks on Tuesday and install next weekend. The RadFlo's didn't do well, already blown and I haven't been off road yet.
Still to go, install new Doug Thorley header & front cat portion, re-install the ARB compressor, order/ install front drive shaft and then off to the body shop.

    Gettin' there.

    Update:
    It's "Go time".
Last weekend I spoke to a lodge Brother who is a sales manager at a local Toyota dealer. I told him what I want and he tells me that they'll scour the auctions to find it.
I've already gotten pre-approvall for the loan.
I guess for now I'll just wait.

    Still waiting...
In the meantime while I wait I do have a simple question.
Amongst (equal year) Tacoma's of all flavors is all the drivetrain the same?
In other words does the 4 cylinder base regular cab share the same axles, brakes, transfer case, transmissions etc as it's big fancy V6 4 door cousins?
If there are differences what are they?

Axles, suspension, brakes and transfer cases will be the same for 4 cylinder and V6 Tacomas. On 2005-2015 Tacomas, manual I4 trucks use the same 5 speed that 1995.5-2004 V6 trucks used. V6 manual trucks have a 6 speed. I4 automatics have a 4 speed auto while V6 automatics have a 5 speed auto. The 4 speed auto for I4 trucks is the same or very similar to the 4 speed auto used in 1995.5-2004 Tacomas.

I bought a base reg cab new in 2012. Was concerned with mpg when i bought it so i got the 2wd base auto with the 3.58 rear. Never got the claimed 24 mpg hwy, but averaged 20 mpg mainly rural dirt roads and 55 mpg two lane hwy travel. Of course living out in the boonies with rutted dirt roads put the little low rider at risk of bottoming out. So with help from tw put a lift and 31" wranglers. Now it goes through mud like a tank and has the clearence of the 4wd. Only problem now is it is lucky to get 18 mpg, back to where the 4x4 version gets. Should have gotten the 4x4 to start with its stronger front suspension and 410 rear. The lesson here is to go with what you really want to start so you dont have to comprimise. I really like everything else about the truck, its light, agile, and easy to park. If i had the money i would buy another used one in 4x4 and still keep my 2wd, would be hard to imagine trading or selling it. To me the reg cabs remind me of the toyotas that were abudant when I was in high school in the 80's. They dont make them anymore and clean examples will get harder and harder to find. Buy one if you can before its too late.IMG_0446.jpg IMG_0458.jpg

It's funny. I hemmed and hawed over several trucks thinking I'd find a better deal or trying to convince the dealer to drop the price some. Now it's two months later and I'm kicking myself for not just buying this one or that.
Anyway I haven't found "the one" yet. I've got a friend at a dealership supposed to try to find one at the auction. Maybe save some $$$ finding a low mileage example there. That's my hope anyway.
I've got about a month before my son goes back to university, taking my Xterra with him, so I'd better not hem and haw much longer. Strange - the trucks seem a bit scarcer now than in weeks past.
