Yep Monday. Slept late, did a crossword with the wife, doodled around with some bookkeeping, went to see the new Star Trek movie. Whew, I'm worn out. :p
I did that yesterday. The tree sap was pretty bad! I was going to do the other cars but thought it would rain so what was the point. Didn't rain until today, which was good for me because I had another excuse not to watch them.

Unfortunately, you have to replace the entire system these days because the newer refrigerants require a higher pressure to work correctly. The older components can't handle the higher pressures. I'm not an expert, but I know a thing or two. ;)

It takes close to 5 hours to cut and trim my entire yard. (8 acres) I was 10 minutes from being done when the clouds opened up.

Once you're so wet, you can't get any wetter.

    anyway.....It's done.....for another week.

There are a lot of "drop in" replacement refrigerants available that work at same pressures as "old style" gas (ie R12, R22) . They are blends of several types of gas. Blend "recipe'" depends on what temperature you're after at a given pressure. If the compressor is OK, you can fix everything else. The "high pressure" claim is a sales gimmick used by less than ethical HVAC contractors.

New compressors are now "scroll" type. They are NOT direct replacement for older compressors.

We do all our own HVAC/refrigeration repairs at work. I stay very "up to date" on current trends in HVAC. We have several water source heat pumps that were R22 at one point, now blended refrigerants, that are almost 40 years old, We went away from R22 about 15 years ago. When they break down, we rebuild 'em and go another 10 or 15 years.....

All my life I wanted a big yard. I got it at age 42. Almost 59 now and I'd trade it in a heartbeat for a patio home with no yard.

    Sure wouldn't HURT anything....

BTW, we'll probably be selling much of the 8 acres soon, turning this house into another rental, and looking at that patio home.

We already own 5 rentals. If I could get about 3 more, I can show a positive cash flow that would allow me to quit my day job. That's the goal now.
